The Democratic Republic of Kaqowi is a small, socially progressive nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. The compassionate population of 45 million Kaqowians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and International Aid. The average income tax rate is 21.8%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but inefficient Kaqowian economy, worth 1.48 trillion laowfs a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Basket Weaving. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 32,957 laowfs, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Dreams of entering the Super League have been relegated to the history books, unpackaged foodstuffs rot on store shelves, ironic death by tasering is on the rise amongst door-to-door taser salesmen, and animal liberationists receive government funding to break into animal research labs. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Kaqowi's national animal is the Swan, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Kaqowi is ranked 91,562nd in the world and 169th in The Kodiak Republic for Highest Food Quality, scoring 24.74 on the Meeshlin-Starr Index.
