The United Kingdom of Amerion commonly called Amerion, is a democratic nation in the Coalition of Democratoc Nations. It is bordered on the north by the United Workers Federation, on the south by Areneth, by the east by Swiss Bankers and on the west by Rutannia. Amerion covers 9,826,675 square kilometers and has has an estimated population of 292. Amerion comprises of 8 and 3 territories.

Amerion is a multiparty parliamentary republic, with a Westminster system of unicameral parliamentary government. While Amerion is diverse, ethnic Amerionians predominate: 75 percent of the population is Amerionian, with significant minorities of English, Chiniese, and Eurasians. There are two official languages, English, and Amerionian, and the country promotes multiculturalism through a range of official policies.

The establishment of Amerion is dated on the 24^th of August 2013, which is celebrated annually as National Day. It has a long history of armed neutrality — adhering to a policy of role-play avoidance —and is not a member of the Coalition Trade Organization - nor the G10. It pursues, however, an active foreign policy and is frequently involved in regional affairs. One of the ten founding nations of the United Regions (UR), Amerion is also a Member of Parliament in the Coalition of Democratic Nations, and a member of the Coalition Party. Amerion's rapid development has given it significant influence in global affairs, leading some nations to identify it as a regional power.

Etymology

The English name of Amerion is derived from the Genolian word Amar (Genolian: குடியரசு), hence the traditional reference to the nation as the Amar Country.

History

Melba ('sea town'), a forth century outpost of the Genolian Empire, is the earliest known settlement in Amerion. The nation was part of the Genolian Empire until it was invaded by the south Brendian Conferate, in the early 11th century. In 1613, Javemar raiders burned down the port city of Melba and the nation stagnated into obscurity for the next three centuries.

In 1812, Arthur Mill Holts arrived and signed a treaty with Queen Empress Ramaya of Javemar, on behalf of the New Genolian Company, to develop the nation of Amerion as a Genolian colony in Terra Nullius. In 1874, the entire island became a Genolian dominion under a further treaty with the Empress.

During the Great War, the Confederate Army invaded Amerion, culminating in the Battle of Amerion. The Genolians were defeated, surrendering on 12^th January 1931. Genolian President Anderson Lee Harper called the loss of Amerion to the Confederates "... the worst loss in Genolian history". The Melba massacre of ethnic Amerion after the fall of Amar Fort cost between 5,600,100 and 25,400,700 lives. The Confederation military forces occupied Amerion until the Genolians repossessed it in March 1937, after the Surrender of the Confederacy.

Amerion's first general election in 1941 was won by Vincent Matthews, the pro-independence leader of the Liberal Party. He led a delegation to Genolia to demand complete self-rule but was turned down by the Genolians. He subsequently resigned and was replaced by David Wong, whose policies convinced Genolia to grant Amerion full internal self-government for all matters except defence and foreign affairs.

During the Januarary 1944 elections, the Coalition Party won a landslide victory. Amerion became an internally self-governing state within the United Kingdom and Cary Newton became the country's first Prime Minister.

During the 1950s, Genting Maoists with strong ties to the trade unions and Genting schools carried out an armed uprising against the government, leading to the Melba Emergency and later, the Genting Insurgency War.

Geography

The geography of Amerion encompasses a wide variety of biogeographic regions being located in a seasonal landmass in Terra Nullius. The population of Amerion is concentrated along the western and southeastern coasts. The geography of the country is extremely diverse, ranging from the snow-capped mountains of the Amerion Alps to the central jungles of Mojopore, tropical and temperate forests.

Demographics

Population
Amerion's population has tripled since independence. Nevertheless, its population density, 7.4 inhabitants per square kilometre, remains among the lowest in the region. By 2015, Amerion's population is currently projected to reach around 2 billion.[243]

37.6% of Amerionians were born overseas and 61.4% of the citizenry have at least one intraregional-born parent; the largest immigrant groups were those from the Swiss Bankers, ASEAN, The Silver Bloods, Tirada, Quevola, and The United Workers Federation.

Language
Although Amerion has no official language, English has always been entrenched as the de facto national language. Amerionian English is a major variety of the language with a distinctive accent and lexicon, and differs slightly from other varieties of English in grammar and spelling.

Education
Education for primary, secondary, and tertiary levels is mostly supported by the Amerionian State. All institutions, private and public, must be registered with the Ministry of Education. English is the language of instruction in all public schools, and all subjects are taught and examined in English except for the "mother tongue" language paper. While the term "mother tongue" in general refers to the first language interregionally, in Amerion's education system, it is used to refer to the second language, as English is the first language.

Education takes place in three stages: primary, secondary, and pre-university education. Only the primary level and secondary education is compulsory. Students begin with six years of primary school, which is made up of a four-year foundation course and a two-year orientation stage. The curriculum is focused on the development of English, the mother tongue, math, and science. Secondary school lasts from four to five years, and is divided between Special, Express, Normal (Academic), and Normal (Technical) streams in each school, depending on a student's ability level. The basic coursework breakdown is the same as in the primary level, although classes are much more specialised. Pre-university education takes place over two to three years at senior schools, mostly called Junior Colleges.
