History

Formation
During September of 1939 Fascist Germany and the Soviet Union invaded what was then known as Poland. The Pussy Army was formed by Stanisław Niedźwiedź the day after the Soviet Union invaded as a militia to combat the invasions and overthrow the government of Poland. On Sep 28 Germany was pushed out. On Oct 1 the polish government was rid of, and on Oct 16th the Soviet Union was retreating. The Pussy Army signed a peace deal with the Soviet Union giving the Red Army permanent control over parts of Poland. On Oct 18th The Pussy Army declared the new nations name was to be 'The Republic of Pussy'.

Post-War Period
After world war 2 ended in 1945 The Republic of Pussy was in ruins. The Pussy Army which still completely controlled all governance in Pussy decided to divide the nation into 'provinces' and hand over power after an election took place. The election went as planned despite interference from the United States, Britain, and Soviets. A largely leftist government was formed and it launched a huge project of rebuilding the nation. Throughout the late 40's, 50's and early 60's The Rupublic of Pussy had a booming economy largely controlled through democratic workplaces and provincial governments rather than the national government. In the 60's relationships with both the west and east gradually got icy and Pussy took a more self reliant path.

Modern Era
Due to The Republic of Pussy interacting less with the Soviet Union compared to other communist states, they suffered less when The USSR fell apart. To stay stable Pussy started trade with capitalist nations and greatly strengthened relations with China. Pussy had stable growth and development throughout the 2000's. More recently Pussy had to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak. The economy suffered heavily and mass protests broke out against lockdowns, capitalist powers heavily funded the protests and nearly started a civl war in The Republic of Pussy. Violence did not escalate further due to mass arrests of protesters. This drew international criticism and caused Pussy to enact sweeping reforms to the government granting local and state officials more responsibly. With the Russian invasion of Ukraine now becoming an issue for Pussy, a national poll was held by the government were it was made clear that neutrality in the conflict was preferable.

Politics Before Pussy

Politics During Military Rule
The Pussy Army had complete control over the economy and most aspects of everyday life. Society was highly organized and efficient. There were no aspects of democracy during the military rule. The Pussy Army justifies this by claiming that Pussy would either be under fascist or stalinist rule if drastic measures were not taken.

Trade Unions and Democratic Workplaces
Trade unions and democratic workplaces were banned during the military rule, but the new government elected in 1945 made it extremely easy for them to form. Most workplaces were owned by the workers by the 50's and those that were not had strong trade unions.

Central Government
The central government is quite small and has shrunken noticeably since the mass protests in 2020. Foreign relations, international trade, and the military are three main things the central government is responsible for.

State Government
Pussy is divided into multiple states, these governments handle most of the governmental duties in Pussy.

Localities Governments
Pussy has many many local governments. These governmemts often decide how a community fuctions and looks.

"Free Zones"
"Free Zones" are a type of local government where laws from the state and central governments do not apply. These free zones were created when local governments banned together in 1965 and rejected the new government of Pussy. The government of Pussy did not recognize the Free Zones, but agreed not to interfere with their existence. People who live in Free Zones are still considered citizens of Pussy and have the same rights as other Pussy citizens.

Religion

Christianity

Christianity has had a long history in Pussy and has played an important role in society. Originally, The Pussy Army worked with churches to repel the invasions and the church had great influence over the Pussy Army. In 1945 The Pussy Army, with soviet pressure, decided to keep religious organizations out of the new government and Pussy was declared a secular state. The Christian faith now faced a split, where one section was largely leftist and the other was still reactionary. Christian leftists and the new Pussy government launched a movement to disband reactionary churches and it was largely successful. Reactionary Christianity still existed, but there were very few reactionary churches and the Christian organizations almost all supported the Pussy state. Today about half of people in Pussy identity as Christian.

Atheism

Atheism is growing is Pussy and about 25% of people are non-religious.

Judaism

Many Jewish people fled to Pussy during its early years. About 20%, or 1 in 5 people are Jewish
