The long version
Within Nationstates, the leader of a region is picked by the number of endorsements they have. The most endorsements becomes leader of the region and is able to eject and ban nations from our region.
Of course, if a lot of nations came into England with a plan and endorsed a different person, they'd take over and be a real pain in the ass!
Englands Regional Message board multiple times a year
England gets raided.... A lot. They come in here, very organised and take over our message board, change our flag, posts, dispatches and it can last months. In some regions they have taken over so completely that they eject everyone and password lock it. The region of England is a much sought after name, so we get raided several times a year.
Often the raid is small, so if we are on the ball we can eject 10 or so raiders easily. But a large scale raid of over 200 raiders happened earlier February 2022, they put the Saltire as the flag and went around pretending we were Scotland. We all had to put down our cups of tea and pray that defender groups would help out.
Its all part of the game, but it becomes much easier to have a quiet life, arrange games of cricket, roleplaying, cosplay as Dr Who, post BBC news articles about our nations, compare the trophy cabinets of our football teams and generally grumble about the weather if this raiding doesn't happen.

Why do you threaten to ban nations not joining the World Assembly?
Simply put, raiding barbarians try to infiltrate England and sit here with a "sleeper" nation that gains influence over time, then suddenly participates in a raid. Or raiders try to sneak in, one by one over a few weeks.
If you are a World Assembly nation, you are much more likely to be a real human player with no interest in any other region. So as England is currently weakly defended with only a few votes for our Delegate, we have to be extra careful.
We really aren't trying to be annoying. But living in this version of England, is very much like you are involved in the Home Guard 1940 and scanning the coastline for fighters and landing craft! You can help change that by getting involved and Endorsing Isle of Westland!

After many many raids it dwindled down to 15 nations. Raiding can ruin a region and put players off. Help us out!

The Region of England is one of the oldest player created regions in Nationstates. Its original founder Tyrr finally ceased to exist on August 3rd, 2020. Since then the region has undergone large quiet spells without even a World Assembly delegate, often only punctuated by frequent raids which seem to go unnoticed by the longest serving nations. The raiders often take England without much of a fuss, but find within a few weeks they've become just another group of nations with their own graffiti and food shops. The reason for this, is that England has several very large and ancient nations with so much influence that no raider could hope to eject and ban them all. The saying "There will always be an England" applies whilst these ancient oaks reside within the region and it makes for an interesting playing dynamic if you choose to join England.
Also we enjoy drinking tea and watching cricket.
Invaders are not welcome- we will wave our fists angrily in your general direction if you try to upset us!
England has been around for longer than any NS wiki or internet archive can calculate. But we can glean some information about previous WA Delegates. Early on England used to have a very active community and members participated in Regional Elections of their WA Delegate.
The region had up to 245 nations in 2004 which made it one of the strongest regional influences in the early game, which dwindled down to just 15 nations by 2017. A slow but sure resurgence after a huge raid by that made Taun the Delegate with over 200 raiders quickly sparked a resurgence in the region as many defenders and former raiders stayed behind to form their own coffee shops and groups. An initial start to the rebuilding of England under much missed former delegate The papal county of derbyshire is continuing under the present leadership which is hoping to build on the newfound vitality pulsing through the region.

Countering Raids
How has England survived these many raids?
England has been helped many times by dedicated Defender groups. Some have set up "Sleeper" nations that help to gain influence to prevent the region from being taken over and to help with ejecting raiders.

Get involved and introduce yourself in the RMB so you don't accidentally get banned. We get raided a lot here ;) we're used to it but we are a little trigger happy in response!
All new nations MUST endorse the WA delegate or you will be banned. If you're a puppet nation and not part of the WA please identify your main nation when you introduce yourself in the RMB. This is effective immediately.
