GAMEPLAY MECHANICS: How to Play and Game Rules

Introduction
This game guide outlines the basic mechanics. While most of the RP is story-driven, these rules help determine who is strongest in a given context.

System Basics
  • Every day IRL is 1 year in-game.

  • Anything not covered by stats is at the writer's discretion.

  • New countries have spawn protection from nations higher than level 5 until they reach an average of level 5 or greater in most stats, unless they invade a level 5 or higher country first.

  • Puppet nations may use their parent nation's stat, but must choose whether to use their parent or puppet stats and stick with that choice.

  • You must have written about something in a factbook, on the RMB, or in a dispatch before using it in a war. You must also declare it on the RMB. Simply dropping a link to the factbook or dispatch on the RMB is enough, before going to war. Please no sneaky editing tricks. I've hired goblins to watch you.

  • Factbooks/dispatches can give you an advantage in battle. A nation with weaker stats but factbooks that specifically defeat what the enemy is using can possibly beat a superior stat nation whose own factbooks weren't as detailed. The bigger the gap in levels, the harder this is, but may still be possible. Absurd example: If Homer Simpson walks up to the reactor of an invincible starship and spills beer on the electronics, and the electronics aren't specifically liquid proof on that one console, the starship can be disabled.

  • It takes 1 IRL day to hop to any other star system in the same galaxy with hyperlane access, and 3 days to hop to any system in a different galaxy from the one your ships are currently in. These GREATLY SIMPLIFIED hyperlane rules are an alternative to removing them entirely. Most people ignored them before, but this rule is easier to enforce and understand and notice violations of.

  • Pickup Antagonists: If you are bored and nobody is invading you, you can always ask OOC on the RMB "Does anyone want to be my antagonist / does anyone want an antagonist?"! People love that here and will most likely respond :3

  • It is now mandatory for frequent character RPs to use the [spoiler] BB code or take place via linked Factbooks/Dispatches. No longer may the RMB be filled up with long Character RP posts because it's driving people away. Do not flood the RMB.

  • When Venmere/1APCAT is active you tell them "I'd like to discover a new start system, please generate me one!" and you can claim the randomly generated system.

  • Once per month (every 30 days), you may go to the 1AP sector map and claim an unclaimed system. We won't be overly particular about it being exactly 30 days, but if you frequently go over we might impose some ingame event on you (like communication system malfunctions that block you from making new star systems for 60 days)

  • once a month you can attempt to expand about 20% (1/5th) of your size on the Neo New Earth map. That way it's slow, as you grow you can claim bigger areas, which makes it more likely to be stopped since people will become paranoid.

  • No galaxy destroying weapons. Terra/Ferros/Neo New Earth is immune to planet destroying weapons for a mysterious reason. "Planet destroying" means it can wipe out the majority of life on the surface. A small percentage of surface life, and anything built deep enough underground, can survive. Celestial bodies can't be completely annihilated. Additionally, no weapons capable of destroying the entire universe may be used either.
