Delegate's Inaugural Address

DELEGATE'S ADDRESS - OCTOBER 2023

Hi everyone,

I am incredibly humbled and excited to have been elected your Delegate for this four-month term. If you had told me even mere months ago I would find myself in this position, I would have laughed at you. I vividly recall entering TEP back in 2018 and thinking it would be so cool to have my name up on that factbook entry someday, and that dream has been fulfilled.

I have a lot of plans and aspirations, as is the case I believe with any incoming delegate. I hope these next four months will be productive and successful, and I hope to connect with all of you along the way. For those unfamiliar with me, I have been an active member of the RMB RP community for the last half-decade. In that time I've taken the name Merlovich across 4 continents of Valsora, I've been a Cartographer on three different occasions, including the last year. I've served in the Ministries of Culture and News, and more recently served as an RMB Moderator and as Minister of Outreach under the last cabinet, as well as holding membership in the FA Council.

I have several goals I hope to accomplish during this term, most of which are outlined in my LinkCampaign. I hope this term to revitalize the University of The East Pacific (UTEP) through a total overhaul and rework, in collaboration with several members of the Executive. I have high hopes that UTEP can thrive under new leadership, with a system in place to ensure it doesn't continue to fall by the wayside. The same is true for the Ministry of Culture, which has been generally quiet these days. I hope with a new and enthusiastic minister, and given the support it needs, culture can work efficiently and effectively again. I will be restructuring the executive in my first days with the new cabinet, removing the 'Chief Minister' and 'Chief Ministry' titles, as well as the position of 'Chief Minister of Regional Affairs' (CMoRA). I will instead delegate (no pun intended) the overseeing of ministries to the Vice-Delegate, ensuring an important role has important duties to suit and removing what I see as unnecessary bureaucracy. During this term, I also hope to reach out to both the RMB and Urth communities more often. I believe these two communities, so far apart yet so similar play a vital role in our region's continued success, and communication from the government is vital to ensure each community has the resources it needs to thrive and continue to be huge magnets to new players.

Our Foreign Affairs outlook will not change drastically, and I intend to continue our path. The East Pacific has garnered a reputation for level-headed leadership in foreign affairs matters. I intend to lead with the support of a capable Foreign Affairs Council and an unaligned outlook. The East Pacific will remain steadfast in its agreements and treaties, and our allies and partners will continue to have our unwavering friendship.

I look forward to working alongside you all over the next four months.

Hail Pacificum Orientale.
