Powerplant: (2x) GZ-1 Nuclear Fission Reactor (680 MegaWatt/unit)
The Victory Class supercarrier was designed as a response to (at least in 1996) contemporary aircraft carriers. Newer carriers could travel for much greater distances with modern nuclear reactors, and carried ever more potent armaments. The aging Hornet Class carriers were commissioned in the mid 40's, and were lacking in almost every place compared to modern ships.
The Victory Class is the largest class of warships owned by the Emnarian Navy. Providing plenty of space, its massive size allows for easy installment of modern systems, and gives the hangar plenty of space. The conventional setup of the carrier's angled flight deck, allows 2 fixed wing aircraft to takeoff at the same time (there are jet blast deflectors), and one aircraft to land, all simultaneously (and thanks to the big deck space).
To move and power the carrier, dual GZ-1 nuclear fission reactors were installed in every ship of the class. Each reactor produces 680 MegaWatts (jeez!) of power. These two reactors spin 4 propeller shafts (2 each) to propel the ship. In the event of a catastrophic loss of both reactors, dual emergency backup diesel engines can be started and will provide electricity via generators, and spin the inner-port and inner-starboard propeller shafts.
The Victory Class is crewed by 4,800 personnel. On board officers count 600 in total, with more officers for more jobs than could be described in an efficient amount of time. The rest of the crew, are the admiral, captain, 5 designated first mates (or helmsmen), 200 pilots, and the rest 4,000 sailors. To accommodate these crew, there are 2 galleys, 47 bathrooms, 30 showers, 15 recreational rooms, and 1,197 cabins, plus 3 luxury cabins for the captain, admiral, and a guest if necessary.
The Victory Class Supercarriers are designed to launch aircraft quickly, efficiently, and safely, to engage targets as soon as possible. The Victory Class is capable of launching all 42 fighter jets in less than 1 hour. Also, it is capable of launching all 32 naval attack aircraft in less than an hour and a half. The rapid deployment capability of these carriers allows a fleet to defend from attacks, hunt submarines, or attack an enemy fleet, with great speed. Because tanker pods can be fitted to pylons, naval attack aircraft can act as aerial refueling aircraft, and operate off of the aircraft carrier. So, in the event of a high alert scenario, squadrons can remain airborne within a 75 mile radius of the carrier, for up to 16 hours (then pilots get tired and it's not pleasant having a passed out pilot). In the event the carrier takes incoming projectiles or missiles, the ship has 3, M78 Automatic Projectiles Interception Systems (APIS), with 30mm rotary cannons and electronically managed radar tracking systems. The APIS guns are capable of tracking and shooting down anything travelling up to Mach 5.1 from 55 miles away. Also, the Reactive Automatic Tracking Missiles (RATM) on board, are SAM's designed to quickly lock on to a target, and intercept it before it can get within 20 miles of the carrier. The radar system guiding each missile can target and incoming missile/aircraft from up to 120 miles (with help of ship's radar). These missiles fly at Mach 5.6 to intercept their target, and with the superb on-board tracking radar, can independently lock onto the target at 40 miles away, and has a 93.6% interception chance. For dealing with smaller threats, the ship has 12, .50 caliber heavy machine guns to shoot at small boats, at helicopters, or for having fun on a slow Saturday morning.
The 2 heavy helicopters on board the carrier can be used for many services, such as deploying sonar buoys, depth charges, transporting people/supplies, recon, and search & rescue. The 2 utility helicopters, consuming less fuel, and faster, can transport people, a decent amount of supplies, search & rescue, and recon.
The Victory Class has powerful stage 4 X-band radar for detecting anything down to a small dinghy within 175 miles. The 2 jet recon aircraft provide observation for the carrier, and can fly for up to 18 hours (hehe caffeine).
