Regions

Emnaria is divided into regions. They serve as cultural, economic, legislative, and geographical divided to better manage the country. These regions are mainly divided by old country borders, which were conquered by Emnaria before the calm of the 2010s. (Map coming soon)

The Emnarian Heartland is the governmental center of Emnaria. All government (except for regional authorities) is housed there. Except for the King's Cabin in Kashimyra, and the Royal Summer Resort in the South, this region houses the King's Palace and primary residence. The Heartland also is home to the 2nd largest port and industrial center in the country. Konstaht is the capital of the region and the country, and is at the south of Konstaht Bay, in the Heartland region.

OOC Note:

For better understanding, the Emnarian Heartland is comparable to the American Northwest. However, Konstaht, being centuries old, is more akin to early 1910s Berlin. I would rather not directly style it after irl things, but it is similar to the things described.

Melagne is the largest region in Emnaria. It was the Kingdom of Melagne till the 21st Emnari-Melagnean War of 1991, when Emnaria conquered the country. The war erupted when Emnaria invaded Llana, a southeastern republic, for its rich fishing. Melagne declared war on Emnaria to protect Llana. Despite this, Melagne has maintained its own culture, and largely remained an economically independent region. It also has a very large maritime sector. Fishing is a very big industry. However, the largest by far is the ocean liner business. Ocean liners are a very popular method of transport across the coastal regions. Melagne also has very developed supersonic air travel infrastructure. It is well known for large farming, especially inland of the coast, it produces most of the country's food. The reason why it is home to do much farming is that it is mainly flat plains.

Melagne is slightly French based, while mixing influences of the Pacific NW and Midwest.

The South is home to Emnaria's whiskey breweries, which are a very large part of Emnaria's culture, as well as Emnaria's logging industry, and muscle car manufacturing. It is also a hub for the mining industry, with the northwest part of the region having the Longwood Mountain Range (named for the city of Longwood at the Eastern tip), rich with iron and tungsten, as well as a few very large coal mines. It is dominated by rural towns, with long winding highways winding through woods, and straight, long stretches of road between farm fields in the flat countryside.

The South used to be 2 different countries, Gerland, and Sulennd, two small neighboring countries. They were invaded by Emnaria in 1937 after they refused Emnarian tourists entry (I know, very ruthless).

OOC Note:

I guess it's obvious. Southern Emnaria is based on the Southern U.S., mixed with the timber industry of the Pacific NW.

Named for the former country occupying it, Llana is known for a rich maritime industry. It was conquered in 1990. It is a very sunny place, with green fields and rolling hills along the coast. As you move westward, the region becomes big mountain ranges.

OOC Note:

I'm kind of going for a Switzerland vibe here, quiet place, with hills and mountains and a peaceful countryside, unaffected by tourism (unlike Switzerland) or big business. Major source of fishing.

Kashimyra is a region in the Far Western tip of Emnaria. It is a very cold place, covered in thick blankets of snow year round. It is very popular for oil mining and a small uranium deposit was discovered in the 1930s. However, it doesn't produce enough oil to have surplus to export, but Emnaria uses it to fill a large portion of its oil consumption. Even though it has some uranium, Kashimyra is much better known for titanium, several mining operations are currently running in the region. It is common for heavy duty off-road trucks or dog sleds to be used on expeditions to find titanium deposits.

The harsh and unforgiving climate and rocky terrain make the region perfect for military training, and yearly exercises are held in the region.

OOC Note:

Kashimyra is based on a mix of Siberia and Alaska.

The Coastal Islands are just what they're named, the islands surrounding the coast of Emnaria (I didn't label them on the map because they're so obvious). These islands have been vital to Emnaria's coastal defenses, featuring several forts, radar arrays, and SAM sites. They also have some of the oldest communities in Emnaria, being mostly small villages which rely on fishing for income.

OOC Note:

The Coastal Islands take very slight inspiration from the Norwegian fortified islands in Drobak sound, but the Coastal Islands are much larger (obviously) and have a small permanent populace on them.
