Weekly Update #4 - 4/28/2024

Hey folks! That update, huh… *crikeets*

Jeez ok, give a guy a break…

Anyways, it’s been a whole minute (month) since my last update and we had that entire nationstates crash in the meantime, so here’s your long sought-for weekly update!

• If you're worried about your census rankings and are not sure why they aren't appearing, make sure to read this news post by Max Barry which explains what is going on.

• For April Fools, the Union was highly proud to sponsor the wonder known as “The Biggest Deck of Cards” ever known to humankind. Since wonders data got deleted in the crash, I can’t recite statistics for you - but thank you for everyone who contributed to this great deck!

• The Hall of Fame post for The Glorious Hypetrain has been made! Check it out here if you’re interested in learning more about our Delegate’s history in the union and their impact.

• The Union Realism Roleplay Server is currently on hiatus as a new staff is being gathered solely dedicated to its upkeep. Until recently, most of our Realism staff also staffed our other Discord Roleplay Server, Deranian Dreams - which made it hard to keep both servers vitalized. It’s hoped that creating distinct staffing teams, one for each roleplay server, can help both servers be at their best in the future. But for now - hop onto Deranian Dreams if you wanna roleplay with us!

• The Union was invited to a chess tournament hosted by our friendos over at The Region That Has No Big Banks and Forest (details). Two Unionists went in to duke it out, and although we did not rank in any leadership place, we’re still highly proud of our Unionists for giving it their all.

• Because I was bored, I decided to host a Discord poll early into the NS crash. 27 voters cast a vote - the results as follows:
  

  To the 3 people who told me to touch grass, I actually did so an hour ago to fulfill your request. Oh, how long has it been since I touched some fresh grass…

• The Union’s Executive server has been archived, with Executive functions being consolidated into the main regional Discord server. A new executive channel for people to pitch project ideas and seek government ideas/support has been opened (titled #executive-government) - so if you want to hold an event for your fellow Unionists, why not check it out?

• The UDS Monthly Playlist is OUT for March and April (April is included since due to my recent lack of updates and the crash - we only got one April song in (rip)). Special thanks to the idols who contributed their all to make this playlist a smash hit: Novaria1 (with TWO songs!!), Ostrovskiy, Dawnsland, and Tank Republicans.

• Wait, is that a MAP UPDATE!? You bet! Had to remove a lot of nations (not good) but added the awesome Dawnsland, The Cerulean Nation, Confederacion mexicana, Navaen, and Elallaxi (very good). Let’s welcome these swell fellows to the map!!

  If YOU want to be added onto the map, simply become a member of the World Assembly OR get Union Citizenship, then telegram me with your claim! ^-^

• As for our glorious Song of the Week - let’s give it up to the epic Novaria1 for sending in this week’s banger, Dai Zero Kan by 10-Feet! Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this awesome song, and many thank yous to Novaria for suggesting it!!
