Welcome to Vanet!

Republic
of
Vanet

Welcome, traveller, to the Republic of Vanet, a newly formed region that is eager to make a name for itself. The principal aim of this thread is to provide new players with an insight into the world of NationStates and our glorious region in particular.

So, what exactly is a region?
NatonStates regions are in more ways than one a sort of a community of players (nations). Whilst all regions are quite different, they all more or less exist to provide players of the game with a community, or in some cases a virtual family, to become part of. As mentioned, each region is unique: some are entirely in character, others are strictly out of character and some are a bit of both. Moreover, some regions operate as republics, like Vanet, others are monarchies and some have no regional government whatsoever.

What is Vanet?
As mentioned above, Vanet is a newly founded region that is determined to make a name for itself. Through creating a sort of close knit community, we intend to provide players with the best possible NationStates experience.

Vanet is undoubtedly a curious but satisfying blend of the ideas of a republic with some of those of old Europe. We are very open to any sort of government style, and in fact the reason we have the one we do is due to a result of willing to be open. We are a republic, though, as I said, one that is willing to embrace some ideas that would not usually be associated with a republic. We thus intend to implement a system of ennoblement, a feature normally limited to monarchies.

How do I get involved?
If you have successfully moved your nation to Vanet, it is advised that you post a short message on the regional message board (RMB), introducing yourself to other players and the region in general. Next on the to-do list (only joking) is creating an account on the offsite forum. Pretty much 99% of regional activity takes place on the offsite forum. Becoming part of our offsite community is greatly advised because not only does it generate more activity for the region, but it will provide players with more opportunities to become fully involved in the region by participating in activities such as elections, games and region-wide discussions.

LinkVISIT THE OFFSITE FORUM

Follow the following steps to become a citizen of the Republic of Vanet:

  • Create an account on the offsite forum, using a formal name like 'Anthony Smith' as your username.

  • Apply for Vanetian citizenship in Linkthis thread.

  • Start a new topic in 'Victoria Somerset International Airport' introducing yourself to the region.

  • Patiently wait for a member of the Vanetian Government to process your citizenship application.

  • Upon gaining citizenship, head to Crystal Beach, the cultural and entertainment hub of Vanet, to hang out with fellow Vanetians.

How do I develop my nation?
Since NationStates is indeed a nation generator game, I imagine you are eager to begin developing your nation. Great! We are always excited to welcome new nations to join our modern tech, custom world nation roleplay that is, in more ways than one, the main feature of our offsite forum. Once you have acquired Vanetian citizenship, you are free to join the role-play by filling in the form Linkhere. Once a moderator has accepted your application, you are free to start developing your country, from designing its national symbols to writing its laws. Furthermore, all nations are encouraged to interact, whether through diplomatic channels or through acts of war. Ultimately, it is up to you! Let your imagination run wild!

What is the World Assembly?
The World Assembly is in many ways NationStates' very own United Nations. In NationStates' own words:

The World Assembly is the world's governing body. It's your chance to mold the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will be affected by any resolutions that pass. (Unfortunately you can't obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations.) In other words, it's a hot-bed of political intrigue and double-dealing.

Membership is not compulsory, but we advise all nations to apply for membership as it will greatly increase our regional influence. Players should apply for World Assembly membership here. Upon becoming a member of the World Assembly, it is requested that all nations endorse our regional delegate. Only one nation per player is allowed to be in the World Assembly at one time
