History of the Federation of Ilisseia Legion

Ilisseia militia organisation the Ilisseian Legion depended on the Ministries of the Interior and War. Its creation favored the subordination of the Army.

The Legion extended its organization to the several districts, where it was led by a District commander. The local structures were composed of battalions, thirds, spears, sections and quinas. The Legion had several services, such as the Information Service, the Naval Brigade and the Auto Shock Force.

The creation of the Ilisseian Legion found encouragement, externally, in the consolidation of other dictatorial experiences, in the diffusion of authoritarianism and in the outbreak of a Civil War in a foreign nation; internally, settled in the mobilization of the radical right, mobilization that the outbreak of the war in the neighbouring nation favoured.

In the early years of its operation, the Ilisseian Legion added the forces of the radical right. This was a delicate period in the relationship between the leader and the military - there was a constant tension between the bases of the militia (radical right) and leader's efforts to "normalize" the Legion. In this context he removed most of his previous commanders and remodeled services and special bodies, leading to the Legion's total subordination to the Army.
Leader, however, wanted to silence the open demonstrations of foreignophilia and assigned to the Legion functions in the organization of the Civil Defense of the Territory (DCT), in order to revert its attention to the internal order and repression of the social unrest generated, the Legion saw annihilated the remnants of radicalism that had characterized it in the first years of its existence. It has definitely been transformed into an auxiliary service of the structures of the scheme, in particular as regards its Information Service.

In the past years, the action of the Ilisseian Legion was marked by the role of its Information Service and its dense network of informers, as well as by the shock police in repressing protesters and institutions held by regime opponents.
