Volaworand YES - Youth Employment Service Programs

In the 2019 Spring Budget, the Government of Volaworand announced that over the next three years, it will invest more than £500 million in youth employment initiatives to promote economic growth and lower costs for small businesses. The Youth Employment Service is the Government of Volaworand's commitment to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into the labour market. The Youth Employment Service is a horizontal initiative involving all federal departments and agencies. It is comprised of three program streams offered by the Government of Volaworand:

  • Youth Employment Talent Incentive (YETI) provides funding for employers and organizations to help youth under 18 facing barriers to employment develop the broad range of skills and knowledge need to participate in the current and future labour market. It also promotes education and skills as being key to labour market participation.

  • Career Focus provides funding for employers and organizations to design and deliver a range of activities that enable youth under 21 make more informed career decisions, develop their skills and benefit from work experiences.

  • Summer Work Experience Program provides funding to public sector programs to VIM Programme Public Works projects, and provincial and local government programs to create quality summer work experiences for full time students of any age.




Youth Employment Talent Incentive (YETI)

Looking to hire young talent? This government-funded program promotes economic growth and lowers costs for small- to medium-sized businesses while assisting youth in securing employment. Participating employers can receive up to £2,000 per youth hired!

    About the Youth Employment Talent Incentive (YETI) Program

    As part of this program businesses will benefit from financial incentives through a federal investment of £124 million annually for hiring youth aged under 18 years old from March 1, 2019 until February 28, 2022.

    Benefits to Employers

    Assistance with identifying hiring requirements, pre-screening candidates and job matching support.
    Signing bonus of £1,000 upon hire.
    Employee job retention assistance.
    Retention bonus of £1,000 after completion of a six-month work term.

    Employer Eligibility

    Have fewer than 100 employees (including part time & full-time) at the time the youth starts work.
    Hire for a job that averages at least 20 hours/week to receive the signing bonus of £1,000, and retain the youth for 6 months with at least 20 hours/week to receive the retention bonus of £1,000.
    Be licensed to operate in Volaworand, provide the job in Volaworand, and be able to attain or provide proof of Workplace Safety insurance.

    Youth Eligibility

    An eligible youth candidate must be a Volaworandian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or person granted refugee status in Volaworand; aged under 18 years old; not employed full-time or in full-time studies; and must not be presently working or have previously worked for your business.


Career Focus provides funding for educational organizations to design and deliver a range of activities that enable youth under 21 make more informed career decisions and develop their skills. This program shall receive £31 million annually for the next three years.

Career Focus aims to:

  • support for apprenticeship programs in key sectors;

  • increase the supply of highly qualified workers;

  • facilitate the transition of highly-skilled young people to a rapidly changing labour market;

  • promote the benefits of advanced studies; and,

  • demonstrate federal leadership by investing in the skills required to meet the needs of the knowledge economy.


Summer Work Experience Program provides funds to public sector projects undertaken by federal, provincial and local governments. These summer work experiences represent important pathways facilitating future transitions to the workforce, while allowing students to continue developing thier academics. This programs annual budget has been set at £50 million.

Funding priority will be given to projects that provide quality job placements and support the following priorities:

  • improving access to the labour market for youth who face unique barriers; and,

  • supporting the program objectives as well as local and national priorities.
