Brethren wrote:So, very few regions use the site-generated stats for anything, actually. Those stats can't be changed by anything except the way you answer Issues, and the effects of those decisions are comically overblown on purpose. For example, if you click a button that involves subsidizing your own agricultural sector . . . boom, importing foreign goods is illegal now.

Detailed legislation can be proposed through the World Assembly, but it still doesn't do anything to your stats.

Fine numbers (and fine, nuanced responses to said numbers) are something you can get in your nation's canon, through RP, unrelated to the site stats. Some RP maps require more number-crunching than others, but all of those numbers (crunchy or otherwise) supersede your actual NationStates stats page. Because the stats page is a joke.

Aivintis is active on a more crunchily numbered map, I think; they might be able to tell you more.

Hannah-Vine wrote:So, I'm getting that people here are a lot more focused on Valsora RP than on Nation States itself, is that correct? And Valsora doesn't actually use any of the numbers from Nation States? In fact, Valsora doesn't even seem to have a numeric system for anything other than time between expansions? Is this also the wrong place if I'm looking to focus on writing up detailed legislation and maybe even working together to improve it? Are there regions that might focus more on fine numbers and legislation?

Writing detailed legislation is brilliant and we love that here – regional legislation (which takes effect) and national legislation (as rp).

In Valsora you can be as specific or general as you want with your worldbuilding, including stats. In Urth, it's watched over a little more closely, and the Cartographers require realistic GDPs and populations for nation size and climate, and work hard to balance these factors. There also tends to be a stronger focus on stuff like specific election results and statistics and set-in-stone history, whereas Valsora can often play it rather fast and loose.

But honestly either map is still good for whatever playstyle you had. I recently tried something where I RPed by writing constitutional laws for my nation on Valsora, for example, and I've written up minutes for meetings in my RPs, I've written speeches by leaders, detailed character driven stories, and more. It's really up to what you want to do.

We really love seeing unique RPs, here. A few years back, someone started this trend where they RPed through "national focuses" and skill tree type stuff inspired by HOI4 and it was really creative and popular. We've had poetry and prose and pure dialogue and no dialogue and everything from declarations of war to declarations of the rights of queer and transgender people. Honestly, knowing your niche is the first step to great success in RP, I think, so I'm glad to see that from you. Pursue that! You're more than welcome to do so here in either map (or both, if you want).

I've written WA resolutions before and it can be a difficult and sometimes disheartening task, but it can definitely be very rewarding overall if that's something you're interested in as well. I can connect you to some authors to help advise you also if you want to start looking into that.

Welcome to TEP!

Alvintis, how do you think the author advisor thing would work? /Genuine

No. The genocide's been completed and the concept of an independent Alcatus state in Havaluthen is gone.

79,000 woooo

The puzzle thing makes no sense to me.

home is where the soul is. The fatherland should always be regarded as your home. The place that gave birth to you. The very ground your feet first touched. The very same that first dirtied your hands. It will always love you for you are a child of your nation.

The sons and daughters of Vlaenland stand proud against any storm, against any wave. Proud and full of zeal, patriots of the fatherland. Protectors of their birthplace. It is only natural a sense of pride is felt when the countries name is uttered.

It is only natural that the soul belongs to the nation is birthed. An interweaved symbiot. A strong connection with the homefront. Any true son and daughter could never deny this truth!

Thus spoke Dumasthustra!

Since we are the ones who inhabit the Ekylos region, I plan to change the Greek name to a more Latin American name. I have three names in mind:

1- Meridia. "Southern lands." Navigational name used by the Althusians to refer to the lands south of the Demetric that had been colonized.

2- Novalta. A reduction of the Natin "Nova Altusia", which historians possibly put to the region practically completely colonized by Altusia.

3- Escalosa. Name proposed by Yucanoa. It could refer to an Althusian cartographer and explorer, as happened with "America" and Americus Vespucci.

If we reach an agreement with one of the three, we will write to the Cartos to make the change.

 I love fvcking over imperialists
(can it be a mixture of Aromanese and Altusian naming conventions tho? why would the last surviving remnant of pre-colonisation Ekylos agree to a colonial name lol)

Cuz yes!

Only the island of Arovia cannot override Altusia's vast colonial legacy over the rest of the region. For me Meridia is the most neutral that Arovia could accept.

Well... but... what name would you choose?

It makes sense after a while.

Hello there! If you're reading this, then consider yourself a participant in Vaudere's first-ever poll! In this vote, you'll decide the future of my nation's most important national seal - my flag. I've found another cool color combination, but I'd like to ask you all in TEP about it, and hear your opinions!

Besides the colors, you'll be deciding on the shape- either square or with a triangular indent. The flag with the most votes wins, and will be my national flag for two weeks. After that, I'll decide whether or not I like it!

So without further ado... here are the four options!

Option one- the current flag (The Tri-Bar Banner)

Option two- The current color scheme, but square (The Patriote Flag)

Option three- New color scheme, but square (Sanguine Banner)

Option four- New color scheme, with triangular indent. (Sanguine Stripes)

Now that you've taken a glance at each of the four options, head on over to the voting booth and make your pick Linkhere!

NOTE: Please do this fairly, people! I don't want more than one vote per person. Please put down your name in your vote, as well, if you want to participate.

Read dispatch

Day three of the flag vote! We're halfway there!

If you haven't already cast your vote, do so now!!!

THE GREAT TRIAL IS HERE!!!!!!!

In today's news:

Novo Nordisk is the only company in the US allowed to manufacture and sell Ozempic, an important drug used to treat Diabetes (If you live in the US, there is a 100% chance you have seen a commercial for it).

For most of the time the company has owned the rights to the drug, they have charged people $1,000 monthly to use Ozempic, which is already a f*cking horrible thing to do to people with diabetes.
However, a new study released by Yale researchers has proven that the Ozempic drug only costs about $4.75 to manufacture and distribute, sometimes cheaper depending on the manufacturing facility.

This means that Ozempic is sold at the highest markup out of any known drug in the US, at a 20,000% markup.

Page 79k, woooo.

I’ve heard about this. I personally think that companies should face more punishments for doing this. It’s not fair to us who live from paycheck to paycheck.

Money is a hard thing to get and is harder to keep.
