Description

The Multicaliber Rifle Platform, also known as the MARS-500S or just “MARS”, is a modular gas operated assault rifle developed by Edenshel GmBH, by a design team led by the established firearms designer Nicolas Lichtenfels, as a response to a slump in Austro-German exports and to meet the needs for the Austro-German Multicaliber Rifle Platform project.

It was developed for the MRP project as part of a design competition to find a rifle to work as a flexible weapon platform for both Law Enforcement and for the SOCOM forces of the Reichswehr. Initially competing with four other prototypes, developed by other companies such as Mauser, HK, and Walther, this design was put forward by Edenshel. As the competition progressed the design did gather significant interest for its focus on extreme modularity, with a plan for exporting the weapon in mind. As the competitors were eliminated, it was found to be the only one to meet the stringent requirements for weight, durability, and reliability.

The rifle itself is laid out in a conventional pattern, opting against bullpup configurations, and is a gas-operated, rotating bolt design. It uses a short stroke piston system, with the gas system being made adjustable, with marked presets for different calibers that will be commonly encountered. The whole rifle is made up of high strength steel, with use of titanium and durable polymers to save on weight, making the weapon much more easy to carry and wield compared to other rifles. It’s most distinctive feature is the fact it can break down into three assemblies for easy maintenance and modifications, relying on a system of captive pins that prevents loss of parts and keeps it held together tightly.

Using a swappable bolt, barrel, and magazine well assembly system, it features the capability to be rapidly and easily converted to any number of calibers and aftermarket or specialist parts. Along with this it features a set of picatinny rails to accept any number of attachments and sights, but also has a folding buttstock that is both extendable/collapsible With an adjustable cheek rest for comfort and accuracy.

The rifle also features fully ambidextrous controls, semi automatic and fully automatic capabilities but also a three round burst setting. With its swappable magazine well system, it can accept a wide variety of magazines, from STANAG magazines, G-36 Magazines, and with the caliber changes available, also will be able to use AK-47 and 74 magazines along with magazines from other Austro-German Rifles.

I wanted to be able to make it accept many calibers lul

That helps a lot, but still, "AK and STANAG Compatible"

The 2 most unalike systems on the planet, I can see how, just not why with how much more it would cost. You would get a more expensive system that works a lot worse for both magazines.

Otherwise I love it.

Maybe a little bit

Currently watching a movie series called "The punishments of Autumn/Fall"
It's a fun series I am enjoying so far,
Definitely want to see more of it,
Though it's in Albanian so I doubt any of you will watch it lol

Perhaps, perhaps it is.

Most of it is that the whole rifle doesn’t operate on both at once at any given time.

It has to be configured with some parts swapped out to actually accept either magazine system, since yeah, that would be orribly overcomplicated to try and make it do both at once from the get go. It needs specific mag wells and parts put in for it to use one system or the other, might’ve not fully explained that part sorry.

Ah got it, may have just been me as when I say my *device* does 2 things, it does those things without mods. So just my over engineering mind overthinking.

Put 2 and 2 together and got 7. Just like the reformers. (Don't ask if you don't know, you don't want to know.)

I play it as well
At my village club and at the university team both in the groups of inside and the real outside

Probably a good idea to resume it when we have an idea the site is stable enough to do so

Lololol,
I'm not even a weeb but even I knew it was pronounced Hat-soo-neiy

Eisen Fatherland wrote:Ah got it, may have just been me as when I say my *device* does 2 things, it does those things without mods. So just my over engineering mind overthinking.

Yeah. It’s kinda a method of captive pin held swappable mag wells, and you just swap the bolt and barrel, then redo the gas system via one of the presets on the adjuster non and bingo Fires different caliber.

Though it’s more so that it’s put together in the mag system and caliber that the recipient nation uses to seamlessly integrate into existing logistics chains since the MARS-500 is by design an export weapon.
