Security Council Vote Recommendation

Part of the Information for WA Voters program

Resolution at Vote: Liberate Eclipsis
Vote Recommendation: For

Resolution Analysis
Overview
This resolution proposal seeks to liberate Eclipsis, which has been invaded by a combination of The Brotherhood of Malice, The Black Hawks, Sparkalia, Kantrias, Warzone Trinidad, Astoria, and The Sekhmet Legion, ostensibly to "secure a region in the path of totality for premium eclipse viewing".

Recommendation
Using the recent solar eclipse in North America as an excuse for an invasion of a region with a similar name is laughable and, frankly, not particularly funny. This liberation would serve to restore native rule and we fully support the notion, especially as sanctioned regions are involved in this raid.

For the above reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote For the at-vote SC resolution, "Liberate Eclipsis".

SR RP: The Platypus Empire, "Tides of... Destruction?"

I think it was at like 5 am when I was told by the other Oligarchs that I had to attend a meeting with two very important people, "funding problems," they called it.
So here I am, sitting in a room with two men, both looked way more serious than I. I mean, I could barely put on my suit this morning for this meeting, I think my tie is still crooked and my shirt still not tucked in.
the man in a Dark green military uniform, the head of military operations, spoke first, "Scout teams Sierra and Victor have been incapacitated, we believe the cause of this is from a signal we caught on a radar scan of the sea exactly two months ago,"
the other man, wearing a brown trench coat with formal clothes underneath, who I believe to be the head of scientific research, the guy above all the scientists, spoke next, "they were on outdated ships, we told you it would only be a matter of time before they collapsed and look what happened, a glitch on an outdated scanner doesn't just cause a ship to collapse."
I was going to try to say something, but the head of military operations spoke first, "you couldn't provide us with more ships at a close date, what were we supposed to do, send a scouting mission on foot?"
"preferably, yes, we are constantly working on research and technology, we said we couldn't provide you with the ships because we don't build them, that's construction and mechanics, who have been working tirelessly building ships for your military, they're even attempting our plans for a highly experimental reconnaissance aircraft!" The head researcher retorted, "you should know this by now, Dave, you've been in your office for over 10 years."
The head of military operations was going to say something but then paused in thought, before slowly getting up and leaving the conference room, leaving me and the head of research, who amused me with a pleasant conversation for a few hours, telling me information on recent developments in scientific research, before leaving the room himself. I'd say this was quite a successful meeting. :)

The Lopian Scare

Happy May 1st, a historic workers' day around the world!!!

In 1858, printing workers in Rio de Janeiro went on strike for better wages. To make their demands known, they began to publish a periodical, which denounced the terrible working conditions and mistreatment by employers.

This was at a time when the black people of Brazil lived under the yoke of slavery. The national working class, still nascent, had to fight together with the enslaved for freedom and wage. In Europe and the USA it was no different.

It was on May 1, 1886 that Chicago workers, on strike for an 8-hour day, were brutally repressed by the police. At the time, dozens of workers were killed and injured. Three years later, at an international congress in France, May 1st was established as Workers' Day, in memory of the martyrs of Chicago and in defense of the 8-hour work day.

At that time, workers were subjected to 12, 14 or 16 hour days. Children were forced to work in some industries from the age of 6 or 7. Women received a much lower salary than men and there were no rights to maternity.

The memory of the heroes of Chicago – USA, who fell, after the outbreak of a general strike, fighting for the eight-hour working day in 1886 imposes on us the need to continue fighting. At that terrible moment, in an attempt to exemplarily punish the combativeness of the workers, the bourgeoisie sentenced fifteen of them to death, where five were hanged and another murdered inside his cell.

Three years later the trial was annulled and the workers who were still imprisoned were released. Faced with this tragic episode, at a Congress held in Brussels, Belgium, in 1891, the Second Socialist International approved that May 1st would be a day of struggle for all workers in all countries, demanding an eight-hour working day. In the years that followed, May 1st began to be marked by protests, strikes, demonstrations, public acts and clashes with the police.

May this year we remember the memory of those who during these more than 130 years of "Worker's Day" gave their lives and their efforts in confronting capitalism. Let us continue this fight, which is increasingly the only way for humanity to live better days with dignity.
