As per the constitution, the presidential election of Meevaller will be held on Monday, May 27th, 2024.
The current candidates range across the various political parties.
Notably, the current incumbent, Chester Delft, will not be running for his second term. There have been various notable concerns. Speaker of the house, Evgenia Dunkeld, has been quoted saying, "Chester Delft has been an extremely effective president and has been a positive example as a leader. The fact that he has chosen to not run again is disheartening to say the least." Vice President, and 2024 presidential candidate, Josephine Van Deantslav officially released a statement in December after she announced running for the presidency, "I believe that President Delft's decision not to run shows great character. It is very unfortunate that our country will be losing one of its most influential leaders of the 21st century. However, it details President Delft's true nature. He is willing to let the next generation help build the country. As his campaign promised and his Presidency has reflected, he has put his trust in the people. If he does indeed decide to run, I shall drop out immediately and support him as his running mate." President Delft has not endorsed a candidate, however it is assumed he will endorse his current Vice President, Josephine Van Deantslav.
Yesterday, President Delft held a personal adress to the nation. Lasting 2 hours, he spoke of many achievements that the country has accomplished. More importantly, he discussed how he is proud of the people of Meevaller. "You.. When I say you, I mean it. Every Man, Woman, and Child help made this nation one of the best in the world. I personally want to thank y'all. We have faced many hardships during this time. I can connect to those who have lost somebody. I will always remember my dear Tatiana. She would be proud of how far we've come and what we've accomplished. We, the people, have accomplished what was considered the impossible." President Delft also discussed various topics relating to the future and what he wishes will happen. He signed off the adress with a 'Salute to the People of Meevaller' while stating, "May good fortune guide us in her desired path."
