Древняя Русь: Россія начала формироваться какъ государство въ IX ​вѣкѣ​. Великая Кіевская Русь стала первымъ сложнымъ государствомъ на территоріи современной Россіи, Украины и Бѣларуси.
Московское царство и имперія: ВЪ XVI ​вѣкѣ​ ​Московія​ стала центромъ Русскаго государства. ВЪ XVIII ​вѣкѣ​ подъ руководствомъ Петра I страна превратилась въ Россійскую имперію, становясь одной изъ великихъ державъ ​міра​.
Революція и Совѣтская эпоха: Въ 1917 году двѣ революціи (Февральская и Октябрьская) привели къ упадку имперіи и установленію Совѣтской власти. ​Слѣдующія​ десятилѣтія были временемъ строительства соціализма, индустріализаціи и Второй ​міровой​ войны.
