The Soviet Union would've always collapsed. Sadly with its inefficient extractive state-planned economy, its political system closed off, it wasn't gonna prosper with those institutions around. And if the economy wasn't good, nobody's happy. Which means that discontent would still rise and eventually lead to independence of soviet republics.
