Bankless Forest Chess Arena - Award Ceremony

Bankless Forest Chess Arena

Date: Saturday 27th April 2024, 9pm - 12pm BST

Dear all,

Thank you to all of those who participated in The Region That Has No Big Banks's and Forest's LinkInterregional Chess Arena yesterday, I am glad we decided to officially co-host this event, shoutouts to Jutsa, Zerphen and The Realizer for their help coordinating the BFCA.

Considering this is our first standalone chess tournament, we did manage to generate a large turnout with 20 Nations participating from over 10 regions including The Union of Democratic States, Democratic Socialist Assembly, Sol Aeternalis, Colonia Apollonis, Aurora, Canada, the West Pacific and Europe. The high participation made for a diverse mixture of chess ratings, seeing an average lichess rating of 1452. Over the duration of the 3 hour event, 182 games were played, with both the white pieces winning 48% of the time and the black pieces winning 48% meaning a 4% draw rate - seeing over 11,283 moves being played over the duration of the event.

In impressive fashion New Eestiball, from Europe managed to win the event overall with a great record, playing 25 games scoring; 22 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. I (New United Common-lands) managed to finish as runner up and Eruistan performed very well earning themselves a 3rd spot. New Eestiball and Thracia and Crimea efforts from Europe earned their region the title of best performing region scoring a combined total of 102 points - considering there was only 2 players from Europe this was an impressive feat. TRTHNBB and Forest earned 2nd and 3rd place respectively predominately due to great participation within our regions! Shoutout to Eruistan, as the sole member of Democratic Socialist Assembly participating in the event, they managed to singlehandedly earn DSA the Best Scoring Average! Europe yet again scoring well here, winning 2nd place! Credit to Giovanniland who participated for part of the event, playing 11 games but earning victory in every single game - meaning The West Pacific got a 3rd place spot in best regional average!

Special thanks to all the nations who participated in the event, it was great fun and I hope to play more chess with you all in the future!
