Study-Notes in Preparation to Apply to Valsora

This is an Out of Character log of different information I think could be relevant to my possible application to Valsora.

Google Search AI says:"In 2022, Estonia had 8.63 births per 1,000 people and 12.84 deaths per 1,000 people. In 2023, Estonia had 10,721 births and 15,832 deaths. This means that 2023 had a record low number of births in Estonia. In 2024, the CIA estimates that Estonia will have 13.2 deaths per 1,000 people.
In 2024, Estonia's life expectancy is 79.33 years, which is a 0.19% increase from 2023."

NOTE THIS IS NOT ME USING THIS IN A FORM. IT IS JUST RESEARCH THAT I WILL VERIFY.

Very few Brethren of any species are interested in migrating out of the Motherland . . . usually. I did have a nasty civil war a while back, though, which could have driven some folks into the wilderness until they found you. A Brethren diaspora created that way would be mostly (if not entirely) alcatus, for Lore Reasons.

We know you highly esteem the kind of learning taught in these colleges. And the maintenance of our young men, while with you, would very expensive to you. We're convinced, therefore, that you mean to do us good by your proposal, and we thank you heartily. But you who are so wise must know that different nations have different conceptions of things. And you will not, therefore, take it amiss if our ideas of this kind of education happens not to be the same with yours.

We have had some experience of it. Several of our young people were formerly brought up in the colleges of the northern province. They were instructed in all your sciences. But when they came back to us, they were bad runners, ignorant of every means of living in the woods, unable to bear either cold or hunger, knew neither how to build a cabin, take a deer, or kill an enemy, spoke our language imperfectly, and therefore were neither fit for hunters, warriors, nor councilors. They were totally good for nothing.

We are, however, not the less obliged for your kind offer, though we decline accepting. To show our grateful sense of it, if the gentlemen of Virginia shall send us a dozen of their sons, we would take great care in their education, instruct them in all we know, and make men of them.

I was planning that Crusader Astovich collapsed after a massive defeat in a crusade and sent the region around it into civil war and chaos. Perhaps the Astovich crusaders entered your land and colonized the periphery while having a hard time controlling the inland areas due to heavy resistance. However, with their collapse, the remaining crusader forces in the region were overwhelmed by Wiccans angered from crusader warcrimes and were forced to retreat. Much Christians would flee to Natin Orthodox countries at that point out of fear rather than necessarily prosecution, but a minority would stay.

During the era of nationalism there could be a struggle between Christian minorities which were converted in missions and the Wiccan majority at that point; however, nationalism and Wiccan romanticism eventually solidifies your country as culturally Wiccan rather than Christian. However, slowly, through political compromise and maneuvering the Christians reach a peace in your realm as the immediate memory of war fades and society becomes more integrated with industrialism (that of course decided by you).

Depending on how far you plan to claim from me though. Closer would mean more crusader influence. However, if you claim close to my northern border I was planning to have my northern region of Castriwec be formerly communist and having a communist lore (but not mapped) country above it. So, your socialism would have some regional support.[/quote]

by the way, does anyone have any suggestions on where to start piecing together the real livelihood of wherever I start up to the point of starting? Like I'll need to roleplay working on the infrastructure and everything after, but how do I figure out the baseline that I didn't earn positively or negatively? Telegrams may be helpful here since I should sleep soon, just please let me know if I need to avoid referencing them in RMB or not.

  4. ---love peace and friendship wrote:-snip-

It seems like you thought that I meant "What's a good way to declare I'm starting the game?" I actually meant "What's a good way to determine my starting stats for things more intricate than population and GDP?" What sparked the question was Lointland talking about having 2006 technology and AmeriCo and others having the solutions. I want to carefully determine how I'm starting in the sense of the stats really describing life for my people up to the point where I start. What's the infrastructure and technology like? How do I determine what resources I have access to? What were education, health, wealth, and equality like? That kind of thing

  5. ---liberatarianism wrote:-snip-

One thing I suspect I'll find very relevant soon is the question of how it's decided that your own, others', and especially my potential own resources are made canon or not. I'm not deep reading at the moment, but it seems plausible that you're just whipping out that you're automatically great while others are working through starting or having played along time through a period of not doing well yet. I'm under the impression it's largely up to people to just eventually say "nah that's unrealistic" or not. I don't know what to think or comment. I'm not stating you're wrong. I'm just bringing it up to start thinking about it. I'm sorry if I'm being rude. Tiredness is winning over... Please, Hannah-Vine, stop reading and writing and go to bed lol.

Subnationality ideas:

  1. Wiccan Natives ("The Crone Covens" / "The Nõiad"): They've held the traditions of old and never left these lands for effectively unbroken generation since sapient peoples first arrived here. If genealogy were strong enough, many of them would find many millennia of family history all living in these same lands. They are the bearers of the tales that wind up exciting the Wiccan return migration. They are cautiously welcoming of their cultural "lost children", but are also very nervous about potential disruption by outside customs and environmental ignorance.

  2. Established Christians (<Insert Name Here>): Their elders migrated here as a result of random and casual patterns and some few families can trace their lineage back up to two centuries unbroken. ((This needs corrected to account for the Astovich Crusade Wars.)) Most live here feeling like they are part of a remote missionary family, but whether that plays into how they actually behave varies from family to family. While they're definitely not the largest root of the nation, they're numerous enough to be a significant factor in many aspects of society.

  3. Wiccan Immigrants ("Lost Children" / "The Returned and Disciples" / "The Tagasiad and Jüngrid"): When Hannah's Gathering gained strength, these are the religious covens that answered the call. Many of them have fragmented genealogical records or ones with large evidence showing larger connections elsewhere. Still very many others don't even claim to have a relevant bloodline and instead just tie their beliefs to the Wiccans on the merits of the beliefs themselves. These facts sometimes beg an uncomfortable consideration of whether this group, or the rest of Hannah's Gathering, belong here. That said, the more they embrace local customs, the more clear it is that this group represents an undeniable part of the spirit of this new country.

  4. Established Quasi-Dolphinists (<Insert Name Here>): At one point in the history of the "Conglomerate of Brethren" (played by Brethren), an Alcatus people left Iaoth because <missing info I need to study>. While reluctant to stay away from their home, their effective exile lasted so long that life forced them to set down roots. Eventually, a small pocket of their descendants became permanent residents here.

  5. Leftist Immigrants ("The Vasakiad"): When Hannah's Gathering gained strength, these are the political activists who answered the call. They come from many places across the world and are united not by ethnicity but by a belief in the importance of protecting human rights above all and preventing the influence of profit or bigotry from curtailing those rights in any way. Hannah the Red promised that this would be a land where the ideology of such reasoning would be maintained first and foremost, and "The Vasakiad" are those believed to represent a future for that promise. When a migrant seeks recognition in Hannah-Vine/Noidus-Maa as a Vasakiad, they're especially required to demonstrate genuine and good-faith understanding of leftist ideology. Failure does not mean deportation, but it does mean calling themselves "Vasakiad" is considered plagiarism. This gatekeeping is done solely to counteract the widespread and enraging mischaracterization of leftism across Valsora (some of which is being done by fascist and/or capitalist states actively plagarizing leftist ideology).

  6. Minority Immigrants ("The Armasiad"): Marginalized by Right-Wing influences elsewhere, and beloved and constitutionally protected here; "The Armasiad" is the collective name for anyone tying themselves to Noidus-Maa/Hannah-Vine on account of being the very minorities whose rights Hannah the Red and Lady Vine sought to protect. These include the LGBTQ+ Community, the Nonites, the Poor, the Proletariat, the Pagans and other recognized Religious Minorities, the disabled, the neurodivergent, and more. Recognition as an Armasiad likely means that the minority group you represent outside of Noidus-Maa/Hannah-Vine also has a handful of seats on the legislative body known as "The House of Classes". These details are designed to enshrine minority rights and representation in Hannah-Vine/Noidus-Maa.

  7. Other Right Wingers ("The Paremniad"): Though the local-traditional influences and government-sponsored cultural influences make an independent and significant Right-Wing demographic unlikely, free thought can bring out the best... and worst in people. Debate, Education, Public Relations, Civic Merit, and more contribute to minimizing the influence of "The Paremniad" (a term most appropriately refering specifically to right wingers with defensible ties to Noidus-Maa/Hannah-Vine rather than just anyone being called a right winger), but it's quite possible to always appear to some small degree. That said, even when right wing thought does emerge here, it tends to manifest under more specific factions. Regardless of the faction, the state works carefully to find stable and humane ways of appeasing right wingers' human rights while preventing the harm their agenda would otherwise cause. The motto of the groups in charge of Paremniad relations is "A Society of Love and 'Tolerance' must not tolerate the Intolerant, but Humanity must always defeat Punitive Instinct."

  8. Refugees ("Pagulane"): The Pagulane are the only group on this list with a name that is not intended as a cultural identifier but instead as a solemn and temporary class. In fact, while most other Noiadish names on this list are intentional alterations from their root word in order to indicate a unique people rather than a general classification, "Pagulane" is literally just the Noiadish word for Refugee. <insert solemn toned explanation of how they're viewed and how their name is unique. I'm too tired to write it at the moment. Make sure it's written with consistency.> That said, even though no major group of refugees have come to roost in Hannah-Vine/Noidus-Maa, the government has already begun working to establish a system of hope and shelter for them just in case. <I'm too tired do write this half properly either.>

New Claim Template:

Forenote: The lines with yellow backgrounds are not firmly decided. They are numbers I'm considering based on the assumption that 1 Valsora World-Map Pixal = 1 square mile and that it's reasonable to set my population density the same (78.5/square mile) as my real life comparative country of Estonia.

I, Hannah-Vine, would like to submit a request to join Valsora,

‣ Nation Name (On Map) : Either "Noidus-Maa" or "Hannah-Vine"
‣ Brief Overview of Nation :

((Point of view: A Skeptical and Atheist Historian of recent events)) Long ago, a people known to themselves as the "Nõiad" emerged into the region cartographers characterize today as "Tvedovo". Underpining their character and many of their historic decisions, the Nõiad believe strongly in the importance of harmony with nature and moral stewardship guided by critical thinking. This also characterizes what could easily be seen as the religion of the Nõiad.

Traditionally, the Nõiad believe in what they would describe as a "metaphysical veil". Beyond this "veil" are supposed to be the origins of various non-human creatures, strange forces, spirits, other realms, and more (collectively often referred to with different grammatically appropriate uses of the word "magic" when discussed in Valish vernacular). The Nõiad believe that magic underpins much of reality even "on our side of the veil." It is fairly accurate to say that the Nõiad believe that, especially since they claim to bare a special understanding of magic, they have a defining duty to protect the harmony between Valsora, magic, and many other factors of reality. The Nõiad are careful who they entrust and educate on their acclaimed understanding of magic. This is said to be because that understanding can come with a form of power that is often construed as effectively supernatural in nature.

Whether or not the Nõiad have 'magical powers' ((which will be a matter of consent in roleplay)), this concept would evoke impressionable and strange reactions from many across the world who felt themselves to be on the outside of such a dynamic. The idea of people who influenced 'magic' in some way or another has been widespread throughout history. This may be perhaps largely because of the Nõiad and their legitimate diaspora, perhaps because it resonates with the structure of reasoning behind many religions, or perhaps because it's simply an exciting prospect. Regardless, the concept became it's own word in Valish --that of the "Witch".

To save time, I'll assume you've heard a fair share of stories about witches. You likely know that certain religions and peoples throughout history have vilified those they believed to be witches. This has not stopped others from drawing an interest in the concept and believing themselves to have some connection to, or understanding of, magic themselves. Students of this interest, especially as it connected with the particular ideas espoused by the Nõiad, came to describe themselves as "Wiccans".

My own research of the Wiccans only began recently, and the breadth of hidden channels of information the Wiccans have seemed to possess has made it difficult to accurately date important turning points in the Wiccan movement. Therefore, I am left as surprised as anyone else by the large scale by which they have moved as one from across many parts of the world and all towards the land which may be the root of their beliefs. What I can surmise, is that in, some recent span of time (be it days, months, years, decades, I am unsure), they have collectively organized and then answered the call they refer to as "Hannah's Gathering".

The term refers to a Wiccan and Communist woman (allegedly a polymath) who goes by the name "Hannah the Red". Hannah the Red, working with a Nõiad woman dubbed "Lady Vine, the Witch Queen" has spent a recent period becoming more and move publically vocal with invitations to a state she has somehow effectively begun forming under everyone's noses on the coast of Tvedovo. Her invitations are said to be for people of various ilk, but especially for Wiccans, Leftists, and those she describes as "Marginalized People" or "Minorities" (Queer people, Nonites, Racial Minorities, the Poor, and more). She promises a governing state she claims will enshrine human rights and unparalleled representation. Time will tell if the state that she has started forming will be able to deliver on such promises.
