Jotunland - Pacifism

Jotunland is a Pacifist state. Without military or police, the citizen's right to bear arms alone has contributed to their statistic as Top 5% of the Worlds Most Armed. The citizens themselves are responsible for self defense and national defense and in case of a total war emergency, the citizens can vote to reorganize the military and shift its industry to support the war effort. After the total war emergency is over the military must disband and the industry must shift back to its previous functions. The ideal of having no military is a part of a non-confrontational policy developed amongst the people and the nation as a whole. It is also viewed that the military, police and prisons are unnecessary tax burdens. Although the question of police and prisons is certain, the subject of reorganizing the military is always persistent in politics but it has always failed in the past.
