Dekks for MoDA (Re-election)
Best Members of Congress of the Democratic Socialist Assembly, I have decided to run for Re-election for the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, as I have done last time I will again make a platform outlining my vision of the ministry for the next cabinet term, as I am also the incumbent I will also reflect on what I have achieved and learnt this term and how my Platform from 3 months ago holds up.Dekks

As the nominations for the 30th cabinet will be starting in a few days I feel like it is appropriate for me to outline what a Ministry of Domestic Affairs would look like with me as MoDA should I get elected.
Dekks
I am a very active member of the DSA with alot of varied experience and knowledge about what goes on in our region and the kinds of people that inhabit it.
Member of the region: I am on NS, the DSA discord server and our forum daily, this means that I am up to date and knowledgable about most of the things going on our in our region, and I always take the time to check what my fellow comrades have been talking about not only in the Discord server, but also on the rmb. I try to answer whatever polls I can take. While I am not super involved in role-play, I do sometimes participate in it and when there's a contest I feel I can participate in and which seems fun you can also sometimes find me doing on of these. But mainly I just talk with the assortment of great people in the region.
Member of Congress: As a Member of Congress I make sure that I am aware of many of the laws of the DSA and the Charter, that I stay notified on whatever new legislation is up for discussion and up for vote and that I do vote. But my biggest achievement in Congress what being the co-writer of the Court act, which made the executive branch independent of the judicial branch of the DSA by creating the high judge and giving the MoJ the function it has today.
Cabinet Aide: My first experience in the government of the DSA was as cabinet aide to the Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion, West Bengalis. In this function I helped new residents get settled into the dsa and focused together with West Bengalis on keeping new residents involved into the region. Currenlty I am serving as the Cabinet Aide to the Minister of Justice, Daophi, where I have given my opinions and advice on her rulings, and have supported her in her good but sometimes demanding work, but most of the credit for the good work goes to Dao. I am also a writer for Solidarity, in which capacity i've seen the good influence it has had on the region.
Ambassador: I also have experience as a resident of a multitude of NS regions including, The Versutian Federation, the Social Liberal Union, The North Pacific, the Revolutionary Communist Alliance, and formerly the New Western Atlantic, some where I am more active than others. I am also the one who proposed that our region should get an embassy with the RCA, whereafter Xingal, who was MoFA at the time, opened embassies with the RCA, after which I served as the DSA's first ambassador to the RCA, and now I am serving as our ambassador to TVF.
Minister: After my experience as cabinet aide to the Ministry of Immigration and Regional Promotion I became it's Minister, while the ministry was changed into the Department of Immigration on the initiative of Ivory Rhodes' and ultimately also on the advice of myself due to it's functions being more effectively done in it's current form. But while I not only continued the work I did as Cabinet Aide, I also got to have experience in cabinet.
Conclusion: I believe that with my experience and achievments, even though it may not be the same amount in cabinet than with many other candidates, I have learned how our region works and from the mistakes I have made, I have proven that I can put in effort to make positive changes and I hope that I have gained all of your trust to look at my platform and promises here below and believe that I will fullfill them and that together, we will bring the Ministry closer to the potential it holds.
Transparancy and Involvement
The MoDA plays a big part in the daily life and activity of the DSA, not to mention the authority and tools the ministry brings with it to make sure the DSA is as fun, active and
lively as possible for all of it's residents, that is also the reason why I believe the ministry needs to be as open, transparent and inclusive for involvement as possible, it is also why if elected I will.
- Create a google form and create a feedback subboard on the forum where people will
be able to contact me to ask questions and ask for advice, give suggestions, criticism,
etc.
I will also be available on discord and on NS by telegram.
If I was originally contacted in private or someone took the form I will ask for consent
to communicate my answer in public.
- Have a monthly poll of the region's satisfaction with my work as MoDA.
Polls
As polls are an effective and simple way to collect information and interact with all of our residents it is important that there is an appropriate policy concerning polling, if elected I will.
- Make sure that there's always a poll which can be voted on.
- Shall create a google form and a seperate thread on the feedback subboard where
people may give their suggestions on what polls they would like to see in the future.
No resident left behind
Considering that not everyone in the DSA is on the discord server it is also our responsiblity to make sure that these residents are also included, I admit I haven't worked this part out to be very detailed, which is why I would be glad to get any feedback on how to achieve this, but if I get elected, I will atleast.
- Be active on the RMB and telegram new residents on how i'm glad that they've joined
the region.
- Expand the Featured Five to a short description for every nation + ask them if they
have a statement to make and if they are less active if they have any plans for the
future, which they will of course be free to answer or not to answer.
- Work together with the Department of Immigration to make sure that the descriptions
of every ministry gets done and stays up to date, there is a single document and
tutorial the department director can refer new nations to, I will also make sure that the
Department of Immigration is active and as MoDA I will make sure that as many new
residents as possible become active and that older residents stay active in cooperation
with the department.
Promoting Creativity
As an active member of the DSA I have witnessed first hand on how creative and talented many of our members in the community can be, this is also why I will put more focus on stimulating and sharing the region's creativity and talent with eachother, to achieve this I will.
- Create subboards concerning music and literature alongside the current subboard
"Design Studios", and make sure that all of those subboards have 3 threads concerning
tools and tips you can use to design, make music and write stories, for which I would
love having more knowledgeable people on these topics help me gather the appropriate
material for this. The other threads I would create would be ones where people can
discuss art that others have made, be it famous or just something that you've stumbled
upon, and a thread where people can show off their own art and creations if they don't
have anything to do with other projects or contests that may be going on.
- Create a google form and seperate thread on the feedback subboard where people can
give suggestions on what kinds of projects and contests could be made and focus on
making sure that as many people as possible know of these and are involved.
DSA chronicles
Other than being an active and transparent minister and aiming for a prosperous term as MoDA, I would like to do something special to make my term memerable, and that is building upon the information we have been given on who was in all the cabinets, to collecting as much information as possible on what these cabinets have done and putting it together into something akin to a history book for the DSA, which I also like to call the DSA chronicles, if I get elected to MoDA I would like anyone who is interested in this idea to contact me, from where we can start making it a reality.
Doing the job effectively
As I am running for an important office in the DSA, I pledge that I will be a dedicated minister who will fullfill his duties and serve the residents of the region, but I think it's my duty as candidate to ensure everyone that you can trust me to make sure that if I become MoDA at all, I will do all I can to make sure i'm a good and passionate one.
- Appoint Student Loan Debt and Xingal as cabinet aides to the Ministry of Domestic
Affairs if they would agree to this, while I am running because I believe that the
ministry hasn't achieved it's full potential yet, that doesn't mean that these 2 haven't
done good work and don't know how the ministry works, I will not make them do all the
work for me, but I know I can trust them to show me the ropes and make sure the
neccesarry setup to achieve our goals happens as quickly and effectively as possible, If
the ministry would ever need help from someone that also means there's atleast 2 good
people to look for.
- Setting up the appropriate channels for feedback will be my first priority, so that you
can be all involved in this new adventure and when I do mess up, I expect to be told so
and given nothing but the truth on my shortcomings. (which i'll of course try to have as
least as possible of, as minister.)
I will not let my ego take over too much this time and give you what you have to know, I have been in the DSA for over a year, I am active in the community and have made alot of great friends, and I have had multiple government positions, my current position is being the Minister of Domestic Affairs in the DSA.
Transparency and Involvement
At the beginning of my term I have created extensive ministerial infrastructure, or as normal people would call it forum threads and google forms where people could give me advice, ideas and feedback concerning the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, 3 months later these are still up, but barely used. I have in that time learned I will need to take a different approach to have a tranparent and active ministry, which is that that MoDA has to create alot of activity itself and that I can't rely on the members of the region to do most of the work for me.
This involvement I have attempted to get through getting together a relatively large and talented MoDA team of cabinet aides and Department Directors, I plan to continue this policy of appointing promising and willing people as cabinet aides and involving them extensively in the MoDA, I also plan on staying open to criticism and being flexible.
NationStates Activity
By NS activity I mean any activity which is done on the website NationStates itself, much of the DSA's activity happens on the Discord Server or on the Forum, but as the MoDA it is my duty to provide a nice and stable region for every DSA resident, not just the people who are active on the discord.
The first thing to discuss would be the NationStates polls, in my term I have made my own polls, some of which were pretty entertaining, but I haven't fullfilled my promise of making sure that there's always a poll running, I will make a nationstates poll when I've finished writing my platform and have more commitment to it from now on is a good place to start I think.
Otherwise things have gone pretty smoothly, I'm way more active on the RMB than I was before, I've had the featured five expanded with nation descriptions for a while now, the welcome telegram is rewritten and up to date, etc.
Creativity and Art
In my term as Minister of Domestic Affairs I have wanted to put a focus on the creativity and talent of our residents in the DSA, people need to express themselves, and I want the DSA to be a place for self-expression to thrive in.
This term much work has been put in making sure that the forum has enough 'ministerial infrastructure' or as it's also called, sub-boards and threads to make sure that people have the places and ability to be creative on the DSA, I've created the 'writing studios' and 'music studios' sub-boards and have expanded the 'design studios' sub-board, you can now find tools and tips to help you create your pieces of glorious art, you can post your art in threads, people can request countryballs, and there are regular flag redesign and writing contests. That's alot, but there's also alot that isn't done yet or active enough yet, that has yet to be done, that's why I will write a charter ammendment creating the Department of Creativity and Art and appoint a talented and active director to lead this department so that this important part of the DSA can be fully focused on by one person, with alot of my help and input too, I'm not going to do anything less there just needs to be even more work done
I will also consider 2 new discord channels where people may post and discuss their visual art and their writing
Considering the Design Studios, which is the most active of the 3:
- Make more varied contests like countryball comics and memes, etc.
- Have people make their own contests apart from the official MoDA ones.
For the Writing studios:
- Work together with the MoRP, it seems like there's alot more writing activity in RP than anywhere else, let's bring that activity to the MoDA too for even more writing fun!
- Have people make their own contests apart from the official MoDA ones.
The Music studios (hasn't been used yet as of this term):
- Move the focus from creation to appreciation and discussion, making music and putting it on an online forum requires alot more time and a more specific skillset than making flags or writing, making good flags and writing good short stories and poems still requires alot of expertise and talent of course.
- Appoint a specific cabinet aide with the task of thinking of more ideas and finding people who can make music in the DSA to bring up activity in the music studios.
Immigration
For now DSA Immigration has been running smoothly, people get welcomed by a new and updated welcome telegram and a warm community, there's more than enough people to talk to if you have any questions and the Department of Immigration has a great director, but now that the Auto Recruiter is gone I believe the Department of Immigration will have to become more active.
- Resident retention, if less people get recruitment telegrams from the DSA we can atleast make sure that the residents who are already here stay in the DSA
- Puppet Exchange, have puppet exchanges with our embassies, where people from those regions create puppets to the DSA and we create puppet nations to those regions
- Alternative methods of recruitment, TVF (one of our embassies) often deals with recruitment stamps, alsong as we don't have an automated recruiter we may find ourselves forced to use stamps to recruit new nations.
- Tasking the Director of Immigration and a focused cabinet aide with finding the right information and people to get the DSA a new auto-recruiter, anyone may help in this, please do.
Games and Gaming
The Department of Games and Gaming has recently been brought over to the Ministry of Domestic Affairs from the MoRP, and every Director has brought something new to the table, the current director 
Venovica will do a great job and take this responsibility well, personally I would like to see the Department evolve to organizing games which are easy to set up and where everyone can participate in, not as the MoDA but just as someone who likes to play some games now and then I will be suggesting a couple of multiplayer online ones. There is also possibility for co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to set up interregional games.
MoDA Projects
A good amount of interesting ideas have been proposed for the Ministry in my term as Minister like a scavenger hunt, the only one which we're working on now is a prototype for Mock Trials which had to be put on hold due to the regional crisis, expect more soon though.
The DSA chronicles which was an interesting idea of mine has gone nowhere, I do however think that in a little while it's time to start working on it, and I think that there will be people who will help.
