[NO LONGER ACTIVE] The Democratikan Kuomintang (TDKMT)

The Democratikan Kuomintang
Regionalism - Democracy - Welfare
ATTENTION - THE DEMOCRATIKAN KUOMINTANG IS NO LONGER ACTIVE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT OF THE DEMOCRATIKA NO LONGER EXISTS. IT MAY RETURN IN THE FUTURE SHOULD THE DEMOCRATIKA ADOPT ANOTHER CONSTITUTION OR REGIONAL GOVERNMENT. IN THE MEANTIME, THIS PAGE HAS BEEN PRESERVED FOR REFERENCE.

Overview

The Democratikan Kuomintang (TDKMT), or Democratikan Nationalist Party, aims to convert and apply the Three Principles of the People, conceived by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founding father of the Republic of China, to the governance of the Democratika. The Three Principles of the People are nationalism (民族), democracy (民權), and welfare (民生), which we believe are the cornerstones for a healthy society and region. We strive for a strong, sovereign, and democratic Democratika, and are not afraid to confront the mistakes of our past. The Democratikan Kuomintang is first and foremost a Democratikan party. As such, we believe that it is not wise to limit membership of the TDKMT to one side of the political spectrum, but to all Democratikans who believe in the values of this party and the success of the region.

The TDKMT was registered on November 8, Democratika 3 with the Oversight Council of the Democratika and is the first political party under the current constitution.

Our Beliefs

Regionalism

The role of nationalism, or rather, regionalism, is to serve as the core unifying factor for all nations of the region, and that means that Democratikans must continue to work together for the benefit of the region above all else. A strong Democratikan identity will only serve to strengthen the position of our region on the world stage. This is not to say that we endorse regional supremacy or regional chauvinism. It is vital to the welfare of the region that we continue our strategic partnerships with regions that share a similar focus to ours, but at the same time, we must not lose sight of ourselves nor sacrifice our own region for the advancement of another cause. It is our firm belief that the Democratika must always come first.

We believe that the following policies are key to maintaining our core value of regionalism:

  • Open borders for all nations, regardless of political alignment,

  • A strong Democratikan defence force, to be used not as a liberating/raiding force but solely for the defence of the Democratika,

  • A strong Democratikan presence in the World Assembly, with regular reports from an elected World Assembly Delegate

  • A strict "Democratika First" foreign policy, which means abstaining from participating in any interregional unions or federations that may infringe upon or impede the sovereign rights of the Democratikan people,

  • Continuing to promote regional growth by using recruitment telegrams,

  • Continuing to maintain the Democratika's politically unbiased status.

Democracy

The second principle of the people is often translated as "democracy", but a more direct translation may be "the rights of the people". Our interpretation of this principle is that the rights and will of the people are to be held sacrosanct, and that ultimately, the role of our elected officials is to carry out the will of the people, no matter if it is right or wrong in the eyes of the government. We strongly value the role of referendums in the Democratika, as they have proven to be an effective method of determining the direction of the region.

We believe the following policies to be crucial in upholding democracy and the interests of the Democratikan people:

  • Continuing to maintain the executive, legislative, and supervisory branches of the regional government, to evenly distribute power within the region,

  • The holding of regular non-binding government satisfaction referendums as a means to collect feedback, especially after large policy changes/reforms are made,

  • The promotion of respectful political discussion and exchange in the region,

  • Continuing to safeguard our democratic process,

  • Continuing to regularly review and improve upon the Democratikan Constitution.

Welfare

"Welfare", or "the people's livelihood", was deliberately left vague by Dr. Sun, but we believe that to secure the welfare of the people, the government must provide certain services that are deemed vital to the region's well-being.

  • Supporting vital Democratikan institutions, such as the Democratikan Regional Roleplay and the Democratikan Minecraft Server,

  • Zero tolerance of non-tolerant speech against all groups, not just minority groups,

  • Continuing to hold dialogue with citizens of the region to determine what is best for regional welfare.

Administration and Leadership

  • The President of the Democratikan Kuomintang shall be a purely ceremonial position, given to the founder of the party. The President has no power over inner party policy and may not vote in internal party elections. If the President is the only member, they may admit members to the party given that they meet the criteria for entry, but the members themselves must organize an election for Party Chair as soon as possible.

  • The administrative leader of the Democratikan Kuomintang shall be the Party Chair, who will be elected through majority vote by members prior to every election for the Legislative Council. The Party Chair will preside over the Democratikan Kuomintang's campaigns for the Legislative Council and be responsible for admitting new members and maintaining a publicly accessible list of members. There are no term limits.

  • Party policy and this charter may be modified by party members through a simple majority vote. The Three Principles of the People, being the guiding principles of the party, may only be altered through a supermajority vote of 3/4ths of party members. However, the definitions may be changed through a majority vote.

  • Members may be ejected at the Party Chair's discretion, provided that they have violated this Charter or dishonoured themselves or the party in any way. This includes willingly spreading false information about the party to damage the party's reputation and/or revealing party secrets to non-members or rival parties. Members may also be ejected under additional grounds through a majority vote by all members, excluding the accused member.
