In an ironic twist of fate, His Grand Majesty Grand King Castor I - who used the military to overthrow the Republican government four years ago - has himself been overthrown by military forces. At just past midnight, a contingent of Royal Army soldiers, swearing allegiance to Archduke Philip I, stormed the royal palace, overpowered the Grand King's personal guards, and cornered His Grand Majesty, forcing him to abdicate in favor of the Archduke, who took the regnal name Joseph. According to our source among the coup participants, suspected loyalists had "already been taken care of" and should pose no threat of civil unrest.

Chief among the new Grand King's priorities is to "dial back the craziness" enacted by his father. What this specifically means for Seythennia is uncertain, though chances of a less authoritarian government, or even abolition of the monarchy, seem high. Once again, the future of the country is uncertain.
