Why Join the Prosperous Lands of Ingsoc?

Hey player! If you’re reading this, chances are you are debating joining our humble region - and understandably, might be a bit confused as to why you should join us. After all, there are tens of thousands of regions - so why us? Hopefully this dispatch should answer those questions and provide some solid reasons as to why to join our community.

Why is your region called that?

First of all, good question. The Ingsoc part of it is a not so subtle reference to George Orwell’s fabulous book, 1984. Ingsoc is a combination of English-Socialism, and is the ideology of Oceania, the titular state involved.

Do you do roleplaying?

Yes and no. In the sense of things like RMB roleplaying, there are no currently active role-plays on our Message Board, but we’re always open to new ones! As for inter-regional role-play, I’m pretty involved in forum role-play and am always happy to discuss international and diplomatic matters (IC) over there…

So if I'm not an authoritarian nation, can I still join?

Of course! You may have noticed that there are a few liberal nations in our region right now, and we’d always be happy to see that number grow. Even though our name is based off a totalitarian nation, there is no requirement for a specific ideology, and there is no judgement whether you’re libertarian, anarchic, socialist, conservative, authori- eh you get it.

Is this region safe?

Yes, I’d say at least. A while ago we took away all delegate permissions, so any potential invaders would be unable to do anything and would simply have a boring wait to banjection. We’ve had one raid attempt which was foiled by the defenders of the Pasridi Confederacy and Artificial Solar System, and since then a member nation advised us to remove delegate permissions. So on the whole, as safe as it can be really.

Is this region fascist?

No. We oppose fascism in all its forms, both online and in the real world. No form of fascism will be tolerated within the region.

What are the rules on the World Assembly?

Unlike many regions, we do not recommend votes on specific proposals/resolutions and allow you to vote freely on each issue. Similarly, there is no endorsement cap, and all nations are permitted to freely endorse and gather endorsements from other nations.

So what do I do when I join?

Well there’s a few paths you can take from here. We encourage joining the WA so that you can vote on resolutions and endorse others (as well as being endorsed yourself!). However, joining is optional and we respect your decision if not.

Can I store my puppets here?

We have no problem with puppet storage here, as at the end of the day it’s not hurting anyone and it’s your choice! However, please don’t use these puppets maliciously (attempting to win online arguments by ganging up on someone, etc).

Is there an embassy program?

Nope, we generally accept all requests from embassies and often send them out to other regions.

I’m not quite sure on the rules
