Flora and Fauna of Ateyapey 1

Ateyapey boasts a wide amount of flora and fauna. A majority of the plants on Ateyapey have been cultivated for use as crops and plays a large role in the lives of the island's citizens. Notable vegetation of Ateyapey includes a variety of squashes, melons, grains, grasses, tubers, and trees.

Squashes are of both summer and winter harvest varieties and include medium to large pumpkins that have long shelf lives (up to 6 months).

Sorghum is the most commonly grown grain due to its resistance to droughts and its adaptability of uses.

The abundant presence of natural grasslands provide plenty of straw and hay for livestock.

Potatoes are a staple for all households in Ateyapey.

Ateyapey takes great pride in the ancient and tall redwood trees within the rainforest on the northern part of the island. But don't forget the pines that make up the southern forest. The pines make up much of the lumber and firewood for Ateyapey's citizens.
