Humanity

"Humanity" encompasses any and every sentient being that supports the City and the rest of humanity. This includes humans, but also the Awoken, a sub-race of humans who were changed by the conflicting powers of Light and Dark to make them something unique and immortal. The Awoken make up around 9% of the Cities population. Also included are Exos, or Exominds. Originally developed as super-soldiers, these mechanical sentient people were made by Clovis Bray in his quest for immortality. To make an Exo, a person must decide to undergo the fatal procedure. However, afterwards, they will be reborn in an immortal mechanical body, albeit without their memories. They keep their personality and name, but are often left with strange dreams and visions that can cause some to go insane. They encompass around 15% of the Cities population. Lightbearers, as the blessed of the Traveller, are few and far between. They are fallen warriors, scholars, and other great people, who have been reborn by the power of the Light into immortal, infinitely regenerating defenders of the City. They make up less than a percent of the total population, but are revered for their prowess in combat and their honour. At the periphery of humanity lies the Warminds, AIs with power so great and terrible that they could make the system burn on a whim. The strongest, Rasputin, is equal in power to the Traveller itself, but even he is weak compared to the overwhelming power of the Darkness.
