First things first, here's a basic list of things you can do to get acquainted with your fellow Erudites, if you haven't already made residence here, this is where we should start.

Now then, back to where we were. I mentioned Scholars before, but what exactly are they? Well, in Eruditio, we welcome everyone from all walks of life. Over here, you can see elves working alongside dwarves. Oh, there's a fallen angel right over there! But, um, the only form of "class" that exists in Eruditio is that of the Scholar, the Erudite, and the Wanderer. Erudites are those who have taken residence here in the city, so, uh, Scholars are Erudites too! The Scholars are this city's form of political citizenry. They vote for our leaders, pass legislation, and participate in our judiciary, among other perks.

By contrast, Wanderers are visitors, merchants, tourists, anyone passing by. But, the Scholar is where one really becomes part of the city's future. And, hey, you might be interested in-

Firstly, you have to fill out a few requirements! They're not much, but rules are rules. So, let's take it all in, shall we?

These four types have become a cornerstone of knowledge, accepted and respected throughout Eruditio. You, yourself, embody one of these types. We call these "Paths".

Each Path represents a different aspect of our existence and potential. No matter who they are, everyone has a Path that guides them. And understanding your Path can help you unlock your true potential. Isn’t that amazing? Let me give you the explanation, sit back, it's going to get long.

On another note, once you’ve unlocked your Path, you'll find that various committees and organizations have sprung up, where like-minded Scholars come together to contribute to Eruditio’s many fields. Every two months, the Council of Luminaries—our version of an executive leadership—hosts a city-wide competition.

In this competition, members of different Paths face off against each other to earn the most points. Points can be gained through contributions to research, helping the city grow, or simply excelling at what Scholars do best. Each Path can earn points through its members' achievements, and the Path with the most points by the end of the cycle is declared the winner. The victorious Path earns various perks and gets to be the face of the city until the next cycle. It’s a fun, friendly way for Scholars to challenge one another, and, well, we haven’t had any major incidents in days... Just kidding, of course! You get the idea.

If you want to figure out your Path, you should definitely visit the Archivists in the Spire of Knowledge. Now, the Archivists... well, they don’t exactly have the highest opinion of me for various reasons, but they’re among the most dedicated people in the city. As we head to the Spire, I’ll fill you in on all the details about them!

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be an Archivist, the path to joining them is surprisingly straightforward. It won’t take much of your time, and who knows? It might be the perfect fit for you. So, why not give it a shot? After all, in a city where knowledge is power, there’s no telling what wonders you might discover!

Being an Aetherwarden isn't just about strength and skill, it's also about wisdom and empathy. Every Aetherwarden is encouraged to build friendships with the citizens, becoming not just enforcers but also mentors and friends to those they protect. So, if you ever see an Aetherwarden on the streets of Eruditio, know that they are there to help, guide, and protect. It's a difficult job but... I've not regretted a second of it, and I'm sure if you decided to join us, you would feel the same way, too!

Eruditio, the City of Scholars, was founded about a century ago by four remarkable minds—the Precursors. They weren’t just any scholars; they were visionaries who fled the collapsing Arcanis Empire. In that doomed land, magic was used without restraint, leading to catastrophic consequences. The final event that forced the Precursors to leave was shrouded in mystery... and, well, even I don’t have all the details.

The story goes that they somehow escaped through a time rift, emerging a thousand years into the future, where they found the ruins of Eruditio. But how they ended up there—or where the rift even came from—is something... not well understood. Anyway, in those ruins, they discovered the Godmind, a sentient supercomputer unlike anything you've ever seen. The Godmind’s origins are... well, also a bit of a mystery. What we do know is that it played a crucial role in helping the Precursors return to the present, guiding them to build the Eruditio we know today.

However, their experiences with unchecked magic left them wary, and when they returned, they made a decisive move—they outlawed the use of magic within the city. Magic had brought devastation to the Arcanis Empire, and they were determined not to let history repeat itself. In Eruditio, knowledge and technology would flourish without the dangers of uncontrolled magic. The only exception to this rule was the Godmind, which the Precursors revived with a blend of technology and... a touch of the very magic they had banned. But that’s not something we really discuss openly.

Eruditio is governed by a Council with three branches—executive, legislative, and judicial. The legislative branch is the Arbitration, made up of lawmakers known as Arbiters, and led by the Zenith. The judiciary is the Veridiction, composed of judges called Justiciars and led by Paragon. The executive council is led by the Three Savants, who, along with the Zenith and the Paragon, form the Council of Luminaries. They meet in the Spire of Knowledge, where the Godmind offers its guidance.

Life in Eruditio is peaceful, filled with scholars advancing the city’s intellectual and technological frontiers. We’ve developed unique devices and innovations that seamlessly blend what little controlled magic remains with cutting-edge technology, like the protective forcefield that surrounds the city. And then, of course, there’s us, the Aetherwardens. We stand guard, ensuring that no one with hostile intentions ever breaches our city’s defenses.

Eruditio is not just a center of knowledge but also a thriving hub of commerce. We’re open to alliances with other cities and empires, though we face no immediate threats. Yet, there’s always the shadow of that future we might one day face—a future where Eruditio could fall. But with the wisdom of the Luminaries and the Godmind’s guidance, we work tirelessly to keep that day far away.
