FAQ - Consulates, delegations and embassies
FAQQUESTION: So what's the purpose of this dispatch?
ANSWER: The purpose of this dispatch is to explain our policy on regional embassies.
Q.: What's the difference among a consulate, a delegation and an embassy?
A.: Although every diplomatic mission is called "an embassy" in NationStates, we distinguish between consulates, delegations and embassies. A consulate is a diplomatic mission to a region that may be considered part of another one, for example, Florida for the United States of America. A delegation is a diplomatic mission for which we have a representative, whether or not there is an official embassy, for example, Argentine Antarctica in Antarctica, Iberian Macaronesia in Europe, Ikaria in America and Majeerteen in Africa.
Q.: Why do you have so many embassies?
A.: That's a good question! We think this is a perfect way to promote Oceania. When you see the name of a region in so many WFEs you think "wow, this must be an amazing place!".
Q.: Why don't you share an embassy with America despite considering it a sister region?
A.: Because we don't approve its absolutist French-based government. Even the Big Brother has a limit!
Q.: Why don't you share an embassy with Europe despite considering it another sister region?
A.: Because they have many more members than us and that would require constant diplomacy that has never taken place.
Q.: Why are you closing our embassy?
A.: Probably because you haven't been able to keep at least 15 members in your region.
Q.: Why don't you close all the embassies with regions with less than 15 members?
A.: Because they are countries or fan fiction universes or have names starting with a letter… you know, the Big Brother can do whatever He wants.
Q.: We are 10 nations in our region… can we share an embassy?
A.: See our answer…
Q.: Why are you so cruel?
A.: Well, I'm the Big Big Brother. It's what is expected of me to do.
