This California, plus Nevada and Baja, is a Chinese imperial bureaucracy run by...Satanists. A coup in the 2040s by members of the Bohemian Grove established the "Infernal Empire" (reverse of the Chinese 'celestial empire'), with the Satanic Church (theistic satanism) as the state religion and The Temple of Satan (non-theistic Satanism) as the state philosophy. The two imperial capitals, a result of the treaty that brought Nevada into the Empire, were renamed to further antagonize the rising Christian fundamentalist states in America. Well that and to embrace their own pride and freedoms, to reclaim pejoratives as their own. Basically they embrace so called 'sins' as virtues and embrace total personal freedom. Follow the Empire's basic laws about not murdering/respecting fellow citizens...you can do whatever the hell you want. *Bad um-tss.*
