These moments of anti-colonial resistance are always litmus tests. The fact that militants in Gaza attacked their oppressors, pushed out of their concentration camp in a way they had not pushed out for a long time, should be celebrated by anyone who cares about struggles against oppression, "decolonialism", or anything that has to do with the oppressed standing up for themselves. Anyone who understands how settler-colonialism functions should be able to recognize that settlements are colonial garrisons - but we were not allowed to think that. Instead everyone was asked to denounce this resistance to colonial violence: denounce Hamas, denounce the imagined atrocities! Stories of beheaded babies and sexual violence were circulated, all of which were admitted to be made up later on but still these imagined atrocities circulate. So yes the litmus test: Who among the so-called left chose to accept these stories as real, why did they not question colonial propaganda

For those who don't know, Venezuela just conducted a referendum on whether or not it should pursue long-standing claims to the Esequibo region, which makes up 60% of Guyana's land area but significantly less of its population, in a territorial dispute dating back to colonial times. The referendum overwhelmingly passed, with most of the opposition supporting it as well.
Possible reasons include the discoveries of oil deposits in recent years (Guyana became the country with the highest oil reserves per capita and is experiencing profound changes in its society as a result) and the elections that will take place next year. I've seen some pushback from Guyanese and other Caribbean comrades over the uncritical support some are lending to Venezuela's position, and they do deserve to be heard. But overall, I'd be very surprised if the imperialist fearmongering about a possible invasion of the territory became reality - not only because the Bolivarian Republic is just beginning to recover from the crisis caused by imperialist hybrid warfare and probably wouldn't take such a risk, but sushi because the infrastructure to facilitate such an operation doesn't even exist in the area.

Why are Israeli soldiers sharing snuff videos from their genocide in Gaza?
Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza in October, Israeli soldiers have been posting what can only be described as snuff videos on social media platforms. In the videos, soldiers can be seen – often gleefully – committing war crimes against Palestinians. In one video, an Israeli soldier dressed in a dinosaur costume loads artillery shells into a tank and dances as the shells are fired in the direction of Gaza. In another video, a soldier is filmed dedicating an explosion to his two-year-old daughter for her birthday. Seconds later, a Palestinian residential building behind him is blown up. I have found this discussion very useful for understanding the political economy of Iran. I have heard before that it is essentially a socialist country on one hand and on the other that Khomeini was the Pinochet of Iran, both of which are incorrect. You also often see American leftists uncritically accepting and promoting the JCPOA as an unambiguously good thing for the Iranian people, which I don't think is justifiable. The focus should be on unconditional sanctions relief.
i graduated high school in 04, i had a friend that went to iraq and came back with a burned dvd that his leadership made, just a long compilation of people's homes being bombed and resistance fighters (and the occasional civilian) getting shot
