My great-great grandmother (my great grandfather's mother) is of ummm descent and is possibly related to Arthur bliss (family is still researching); meanwhile my Great Great Grandfather is apparently Irish and there is little info on him. Which is rather surprising considering I always thought I was full English.

May I offer a better alternative? Romani? Or perhaps Roma?

Alright, I can see why BG3 is so damn hyped.

I’m also thanking myself for deciding to go as an Oath of Vengeance Paladin so I reasonably both talk and fight my way out of most situations.

Currently trying to figure out how to safely knock out Minthara to recruit her later while also killing the other two leaders without getting stuck fighting all the goblins inside the camp.

In the UK, the term is actually used more commonly by the people themselves and is often preferred.

Hmmm, fair enough I suppose, this feels like the “gr*ngo” incident all over again. I’m the US-Mexican culture it’s a slur, but it just means “Foreigner” in Spanish… idk culture and linguistics is alllllways fun.

Yeah, it happens, especially with cultural barriers. But yeah, in most encounters I've had with English Gypsies, they've always referred to themselves as such. So I have always went with that term over Romani, simply because it's the one the English ones use. In no way am I being derogatory, merely using the commonplace term where I'm live.

Oh totally, I didn’t think you were at all, I’m just as linguistically like… in the “soup” as it were. Things like changing the pronunciation just so slightly for Turkiye and you know which is the colloquial term versus the actual one people prefer. It’s all very mixed and really goes person to person.

In the states it’s seen much more as derogatory and I’ve known a couple of people who ask I use Romani. But also a very interesting find TSD.

It might just be for my county, Northumberland, because I can't speak for the entirety of England. But I've found a lot of Northumbrians are what people would call woke, we're tolerant mostly, but we're not overly pc. So old and traditional names are still sometimes used.

(which would make me a bit angy but what ever)

Restoration of Eastern Kaiserreich wrote:Really cool lore. (Side note, you're aware Alcatus and Humans can't make children together, right?)

Yeah, the Humanist State would be amiable and definitely interested in supporting anti-Alcatus organizations.

Question, is it considered bestiality for an Alcatus and a human to do it?

I agree.

Malvekia wrote:They can't? Well shiet time to remove the mixed species label from my demographic.

Yeah. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't adopt and the child grow up internalizing both cultures.

Malvekia wrote:Question, is it considered ~let's not~ for an Alcatus and a human to do it?

Let's not bring that up.

Malvekia wrote:Question, is it considered bestiality for an Alcatus and a human to do it?

Not exactly as both are sentient and sapient humanoid beings. However, crossbreeding could lead to something like the Spanish Habsburgs but with fur attached as well. Which is unsightly.

Restoration of Eastern Kaiserreich wrote:I agree.

Alright, I'll TG you something.

To add to this convo, there's also the anti-Romanian sentiment around Roma/Romani. You know, the whole, "All Romanians are gypsies" sterotype. So, that also has its own issues as an alternative.

It's a legitimate question. Alcatus are technically humans with cat ears and tail but they cannot interbreed with humans suggests that they are genetically incompatible. Therefore they are like humans, but are not humans. So they are simply a subspecies of sapient and sentient primates that evolve to be similar to humans. Which technically means they can be classified as animals. So, it is or nah?

there

Can you still call them nightmares when they're about aggressively mundane and lifelike stuff? Because last night was just . . . I very mildly criticized my grandmother and she got raging mad and stomped out of the house, slamming the door so hard that it made the chimney fall apart. My sibling wanted to keep the stove going because it was very cold, rather than putting it out until we'd fixed the chimney. We did not know how to fix the chimney. I got my hand frozen to some metal outside. We yelled at each other. Grace threw up a lot.

Just got to get through this brief and then I'm released for my 96. Fvck yeah!

What the hell have I just seen posted in this RMB? Y'all don't need Jesus, you need the whole friggin trinity.
