Indigenous Natives:
Apexiala has had an indigenous native population that is understood to date back thousands of years.
Native apexialans predominantly inhabited the Kamari Savanna which was used to hunt wildlife, then later grazing domesticated livestock.

Trading Settlement Origins
At some point.... <year undefined>...
Travelling traders landed on the western shores of Apexiala in search of trade.
Noticing the abundance of native tropical plants, early settlers began harvesting existing natural plants, then expanding to found large plantations.
Traders began establishing settlements and ports along the Western & Southern coastline of Apexiala, the oldest and largest of which was Massawa.
With a thriving agricultural industry and it's early settlers roots as travelling traders, Apexiala soon became a defaqto gateway for international trade.
Trading routes were established with all other continents: Doll Guldor, Aura, Andolia and even Polaris.

These early trading settlements were mostly self-administered at the local community level, and had no formal government structure, nor any real "National identity" to speak of.
To encourage trade further these Port cities were often organised in a manner equivalent to modern "Free Ports", in that they were Tax Exempt zones.
Partly as there were few official entities that could mandate the introduction of taxes, or arrange such collection. But also trading companies and citizens wanted to encourage a high growth strategy which taxation would have been detrimental to.

Provincial Territories
As family owned trading companies became more successful and began to grow their influence, many cities began to be organised into more formal provinces.
These provinces were led by their respective leading trading families.
Limited forms of taxation would have been implemented by some provinces, and funded various local infrastructure.
Over time due to the growing size and influence of these regional trading families, there began to be an increasing level of self-competition between provinces.

Full Monarchy & Foundation of Apexiala
In order to reduce the growing risk of internal conflict and to establish a more stable nation, a self-declared monarchy was imposed with members from each of the most prominent trading families forming a combined Royal Family.
The head of each of the leading trading companies became Princes, with the leader of the largest company becoming head of the Royal Family and titled Crown Prince.
This established the nation as "The Principality of Apexiala", with it's established terroritory as the Western & Southern coastal regions.
The leading trading families still retained limited control at a provincial level, but all national administrative governance was held by the newly declared Apexialan Royal Family.

Inclusion of indigenous population
Following the founding of The Principality of Apexiala, the Royal Family had to formally draw up various administrative documents, and agree upon both national and provincial borders.
This led to greater exploration of central & North Eastern Apexiala, where upon the cartographers discovered the Kamari Savannah and it's indigenous population which could be traced back thousands of years and countless generations.

Following a visit from the Crown Prince to the Kamari Savannah, he was left in awe at the paradise like environment and abundance of the 'exotic' wildlife.
The Crown Prince was immediately adamant that the boundaries of Apexiala must be drawn up to include the Kamari Savannah as Apexialan territory, but vowed that to preserve it's integrity it's native population also deserved to be fully recognised as Apexialan citizens.
He also insisted that the indigenous population should also deserve equal representation within the Royal Family, and as such granted the title of Prince to head of the native tribes.

Modern Democracy
After a period of some (undefined number of) years of Monarchy, there was still an intermittent risk of conflicting interests within the Princes of the Royal family and their respective provinces.
The then current Crown Princess <name> decided hey, lets be democratic.... <revise>
She tasked her advisors: "If you can write me a fair consitution, and implement elections, I'll authorise transition of powers to a democratically elected government.

Over several years a draft consitution was drawn up by royal advisors.
Elections were organised throughout Apexiala to determine who should represent their communities at a national level.
Following the successful elections, newly elected representatives were appointed to newly created offices.
Their first act of legislation was to formerly ratify the draft Constitution, so that it would become the founding document of a newly democratic Apexiala.

That was done and Apexiala transitioned to a Constitutional Monarchy, with virtually all administrative authority and governance transferred to a democratically elected Government.
To this day Apexiala retains is formal title as a Principality, with a Prince/Princess as it's ceremonial Head of State.
However an elected Prime Minister is the official Head of Government.
