I actually did say they aren’t a viable solution. To elaborate on that, ear buds/airpods don’t work as they don’t go far enough into my ears to make a difference unless I pump the volume to max at which point others can hear, pressing the larger phone loud speaker to my head is far more effective (and believe me i try to keep it as low as possible. Over ear headphones which have a louder speaker do work for me and i’ve found soft fabric ones that are comfortable (can’t stand that typical fabric that flakes after a while on the majority of headphones) but they can leak at the highest volume too which is what I often find myself needing to do.

To be frank my hearing is partly neurological i think as theres things it does I can’t really explain if it were purely a physical problem, because it varies between being so loud I can hear a dog whistle and trucks sound like thunder to not being able to hear a thing. Due to this variability, which changes at the most random of times (days, months, years) finding the right solution is difficult.

Frankly I would just rather text because whether my hearing is too loud or too quiet, silence is bliss. When there is literally no-one around I don’t have to strain or anything. If I really do need to pick up a phonecall then i am most fortunate to more often than not be in a place where I can use loudspeaker. What would really be good is subtitles for phone calls, that would be perfect.

That all said it still doesn’t negate my original point about giving the benefit of the doubt to others.
