Defeats the point of cooking? The point of cooking isn't to bury the flavor of something under a landslide of spices. Not to say that spices have no place in the kitchen, they're extremely useful and I use them liberally myself at times. I heard a story just this morning about a man who had a tapeworm in his brain because he ate undercooked bacon (he likes his floppy), so there are other points to cooking than just adding flavors.

I literally have a carrying case for the spices that I won't leave home without. I take it camping, hiking and on vacations. It goes fishing with me if I plan on eating what I catch. I keep around 10 different spices in my desk at work.

It's painfully obvious that you've spent very little time on our offsite forums, and even less in the bars and restaurants on Taco Island, or you'd realize how wrong you are. I'm one of the biggest foodies here :D My daughter loved the foods that I'd make for her during her vegetarian phase and the people I work with love it when I bring anything to share.

Ever play Dungeons & Dragons? Know how when you create a character and hate your initial stats because you didn't have good luck with the dice and so you decide to re-roll them? Your schtick would probably benefit from a re-roll too. If you insist though then I must say that I find it rather cowardly that you demand they give you their skin. Pay the iron price and take it or go wallow in the mire with the other beggars. :D

Ah alright, makes sense then. So you love food, what dish is your favourite then? It’s clear you have a love of bacon but I am wondering if you have a different favourite food?

My favorite foods are steak and crab and lobster. Bacon is up there somewhere in the top 25. Love a lot of veggies too. I try to eat as much raw food as I can. Same for fermented foods. Not really a fan of sweets overall, but do enjoy them as a special treat from time to time. I favor pies and pudding to cake or cookies. Candy I can live without.

Not one with a sweet tooth? Wish I could say the same for myself, but I can’t. I can live without sweets if I’m honest with myself, but I do especially love dark chocolate and cake, or maybe some ice cream from time to time.
I’ve actually tried Lobster, my Oma brought some for us and I thought it rude to refuse so I tried it, must say it was quite delicious

I'm actually not hugely fond of bacon or most pork products. I tend to enjoy chicken, beef and seafood more. Bacon isn't a common buy in our house and tends to be expensive where I live and doesn't last as long as what we do with the others. I enjoy sweets and we've been looking to balance our diets as well, Aldi (That would be the Aldi Sud branch of stores) is really good about stocking food that has much less junk in it.

Ever see the movie Pulp Fiction? Remember the part where the guy who has just been assaulted promises to get Medieval on the perpetrators? That's kind of what radiation and chemotherapy do to taste buds. They do unspeakable things to your sense of taste and the effects are long lasting sometimes. I guess it's somewhat beneficial that I don't care for a lot of sweets now but I used to be addicted to Lindor truffles and Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

Fun fact: all the islands of Estonia also have Swedish names. Saaremaa = Ösel, Hiiumaa = Dagö, Vormsi = Ormsö, Ruhnu = Runö. There used to be a large Swedish-speaking population in Estonia.

Not really. They used to number quite large, but after hundreds of years of Russian and Soviet rule and expulsion, there were only 811 Estonian Swedes left in Estonia in 2021. Sweden has 26,000 though, guess most of them fled here. Also I’m guessing few of the Estonian Swedes still speak Swedish, probably mostly older people.
