The Democratic People's Republic of New Goguryeo is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by God-Emperor Kim Byeong-Ho with an iron fist, and renowned for its triple-decker prams, anti-smoking policies, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 16.558 billion Koreans are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized morass — prioritizes Defense, although Law & Order, Education, and Administration are also considered important, while International Aid is ignored. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pyongyang. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient Korean economy, worth a remarkable 6,889 trillion Won a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, highly specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing, Basket Weaving, and Furniture Restoration. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. State-owned companies are the norm. Average income is an amazing 416,071 Won, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

A small country is wondering where their capitol building's gold dome went, summer science camps are regularly raided by narcotics police, people reciting Shakespeare have become a common sight, and foreign militaries are taking a particular interest in the nation's abandoned borders and cities. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Goguryeo's national animal is the Giant Panda, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is the Korean Imperial Cult.

New Goguryeo is ranked 711th in the world and 27th in the Rejected Realms for Most Beautiful Environments, with 5,878.65 pounds of wildlife per square mile.
