The Natural Land of Big Jungle is a gargantuan, cultured nation, remarkable for its complete lack of public education, restrictive gun laws, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, devout population of 11.223 billion Jungans are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass — juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Environment, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Big Tree. The average income tax rate is 69.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The Jungan economy, worth 408 trillion bugs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, highly specialized black market in Basket Weaving and Cheese Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 36,409 bugs, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

A three-year-old has been selected to run the civil service, aeroplane cockpits no longer have altimeters or airspeed indicators, government officials say that if you close your eyes and wish really hard the budget deficit will go away, and the government recently donated a surfboard to an impoverished family in a landlocked region. Crime, especially youth-related, is a serious problem, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Big Jungle's national animal is the mosquito, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Big Jungle is ranked 214,361st in the world and 3rd in That One Place for Largest Gambling Industry, scoring -3.38 on the Kelly Criterion Productivity Index.
