The Dictatorship of Workers Republic of Korea is a small, safe nation, remarkable for its disturbing lack of elderly people, irreverence towards religion, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 20 million Koreans are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.
The enormous, socially-minded, well-organized government prioritizes Defense, although Law & Order, Welfare, and Education are also considered important, while Spirituality isn't funded at all. The average income tax rate is 60.6%, and even higher for the wealthy.
The fair Korean economy, worth 711 billion Korean Won a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing, Trout Farming, Automobile Manufacturing, and Retail. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 35,589 Korean Won, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Children fear compulsory visits to their spiritual advisors more than the dentist, the national colors help to make everyone look slimmer, soldiers are "encouraged" to advance by armed officers behind them, and gossip magazines have pictures of Leader sunbathing on the beach with political rivals. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Workers Republic of Korea's national animal is the Chollima, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
Workers Republic of Korea is ranked 263,333rd in the world and 5,952nd in The North Pacific for Largest Publishing Industry, scoring -7.35 on the Bella Potter Productivity e-Index.
