🔎 The Illyrian Insurgency 🔎
With the Crown of Naples occupying Illyria, the process of stabilization would be done directly by them, this to avoid incompetence with other people dealing with the insurgency. If there is anyone that should do it is Joseph himself, he led the charge and now he has to finish what he started, he sent his younger brother Napoleon and his younger sister Batilde to deal with the insurgency themselves with total control over what happens to the insurgents once they got them all.

The mission was simple in paper, stop the insurgency to harm the reconstruction efforts, and diminish their influence to the point of insignificance. Regardless of being military generals at this point, matters of policing, were things out of their reach, however, they made their best efforts to collaborate with the Illyrians as the process of reconstruction continued. Napoleon and Batilde in order to cover the most ground possible with the forces available they decided to divide Illyria in different zones which they would manage on their own, however using the same tactics they agreed to to use, working with local authorities and make sure to inform Joseph about their progress as well as requests of resources to ensure the stabilization process goes smoothly.

They had Croats and Bosnians to deal with, and while the Bosnians were particularly fond of the Neapolitans they wanted their voices to be heard a lot more as they were dominated by predominantly Croats, wishes they were granted at a local level, obviously they will still follow the decrees of Naples but they could enjoy the same freedoms as any citizen in the Kingdom, while the Croats had more tendencies to go Nationalist and try to take back their nation by force. This alienated the Bosnians which made confrontations between the two a lot more often.

The situation in Illyria would only be escalating a lot more however both Napoleon and Batilde made sure that the situation stays within the boundaries of what they can control. They were expecting to use the same tactics made by Albania to assimilate the Croats, by force if it was necessary, but it will take time for them to do something that will calm things down before thinking on bringing any candidates for the throne of Illyria.

🗣️ The Russian cub 🗣️
The awakening of Russia was without a doubt one of the most surprising things of these years, coming back from a very sorry state and have now started actual progress on improving their nation. However this development would not take away the sleep of Joseph, how many times has Russia stabilize only to fall apart again after a few years? It was way too soon for Russia to no longer be the sick man of Europe, sure they are doing better than the last attempts at creating a stable government, however, it ends in the same way. A complete collapse and change of government.

There were a lot of things to consider from the Russian rebuilding however the more immediate threat was bordering them, the Greeks, years have gone by and they haven’t done anything regarding the Neapolitan offer of Crete and the deadlock only wasted more time as Naples has already started their expansion into the Adriatic Sea. Maybe Russia would be interested in having a piece of that sphere that Greece had, but as stated before, it was way too soon for Naples to accept the fact the Russia has now a stable government. So they decided to look elsewhere, and who other than France to help them take down Greece once and for all? Would France even be interested in taking down Greece? Probably yes, and the idea was tempting.

🪖 The Adriatic Military 🪖
The Adriatic military has been in pursuit of new frontiers and new ways of using technology to their advantage, getting up to date with recent developments of weaponry to keep up with the times and adapting their strategies to the new technology they have at their hands, with a new wave of conscripts as war was imminent… hold on, war?

Yes that’s right, the Empire of the Southern Adriatic is more than ready to engage in another conflict, this time against the Greeks who have been delaying the offer for longer time than they can remember, thinking they can get away with delaying the inevitability of them acquiring Crete, and sooner than later more land in Epirus. They already drafted a few ideas and possibilities to their strategy. Nations joining, the terrain, the enemy strength, etc. they try to be as prepared as possible even though they can’t calculate exactly all of the possibilities that they may encounter.

New prospects came in to replace the old ones as past heroes and villains from the Italian Revolution retire or die of age, and with nationalism on the decline, in contrast with the rise of healthy patriotism, the military was in its new stages of replenishment and evolution as more and more women were slowly having a more active role on the military promoted by Batilde and before her, Zenaida although on a lower scale, while military service for women was still optional and more voluntary rather than imposed, it was clear more and more women were getting interested in it and would like to pave their legacy in it.

📜 The Book 📜
An Spanish national by the alias of Montiel Veraniega would travel to the Adriatic to settle and study philosophy, having found no real interest in it they decided to go around writing his memorials of the time he spent at the Adriatic and his fascination with history would later make them wondering on the “What Ifs” of any important events in history, this would make Montiel start making probably the first alternate history take on a very important event. The Age of Discovery.

The idea of a less dominant English power in their own isles, definitely not fueled by his hatred towards the English, with Scotland, Percy, Wales and Ireland entering the scene to make things interesting. The Aragon being the dominant power in Italy and Catalonia, bordering a Portuguese controlled Iberia, their worst nightmare, the Holy Roman Empire being there with the remnants of the Roman Empire holding on in Greece in the amidst of the rise of the Ottomans in the form of the Bagdatic Empire, Russia being more stable but less powerful than its neighbors, and with lots of the world to be explored as Asia, Africa and the new continent were up for grabs, fighting against the tribes in it.

Montiel unfortunately would not see his work being completed as he fell ill of a severe disease that would force them to pass on his book to Ariano Flopper, who would continue to build upon the universe Montiel gave him and added the Scottish ambitions of forming the Northern Empire, the meeting between Europeans and the indigenous people of the America's, the desire of Aragon for a crusade against he remnants of the orthodox Eastern Roman Empire and soon the Bagdatic Empire which rose to become the equivalent to the Ottoman Empire without Istanbul, an Anarcho-Feudal society in Ireland and the creation of a somewhat stable Celtic Alliance between the Scottish and Welsh, the colonization progress of the nations committed to the new world while setting the basis of a possible conflict of interests in the future.

The publishing of the book would go smoothly, and obviously giving credits to Montiel, the book was a success and became popular around the Adriatic and later around the world. Who would have thought doing an alternate history of an event would be so interesting to people.

🫂 Brothers From Another Continent 🫂
With the recent arrival of the envoy of Rio Paraguay to the Kingdom of the Southern Adriatic and the hopes of building a partnership between one of the Great Powers in the Mediterranean and one of the Great Powers on South America surely could only lead to great things right? Considering the US is recovering, even though they were still a power not to be underestimated, it was prime time for them to capitalize on a possible friendship stronger than the one they probably had with the Americans.

So without thinking twice the Adriatic Empire would show their desire of having a partnership with Rio Paraguay, with the idea of designing a ship together being openly proposed to them alongside the usual open read between the two, as well as offering to them the hydraulic fishing reels they bought and produced from Bavaria, the formal construction of embassies between the two nations.

Was there any chance of finding more partnerships outside of Europe now was the chance to open their arms to anyone, they did the same with the Asians so what’s the harm in becoming friends with a South American?
