DESPITE RECENT DISAGREEMENTS, ARCHTHANES COME TOGETHER TO SIGN GENDER EQUALITY ACT
Though debate over the 2024 budget rages on with no end in sight, the Archthanes both co-signed the Gender Equality Act last night. The bill, which passed Parliament by a staggering 192 votes to the opposing 8, contains legislation that eliminates governmental discrimination based on sex or gender.
While the passing of the Act will ensure greater protection to LGBTQ+ individuals, the majority of Astorians are more interested in the implications of the bill; with the complete excision of gender discrimination in government, it is now possible to have a non-male head of state, such as a Thane or Archthane. Political analysts believe that this part of the bill was created to provide a legitimate head of the House of Halleryck, which currently has no male heirs of pure blood. With the passing of the bill, however, Venat Sol Halleryck is to become the Thane of Halleryck by birthright. Residents of Desalia, the province that the House of Halleryck rules over, are now celebrating their landmark ruler.
