The Friday Riot

Earlier this Thursday, several hundred students from around the nation gathered in the halls of the Chambers of Legislature. What started as a peaceful student gathering to protest the growing unemployment quickly grew into several thousand Ygdogi's in a violent mob barreling to the Presidential residence. Many of the police battalions sent to stop the mob ended up joining them on their violent march, with Prime Minister Husan vocalizing his support for the protesters' cause.

President Kruso announced a state of emergency, seizing control over the Armed Forces, and setting a perimeter around his private residence. For hours prodded at the President's home, and were ultimately pushed back when internal division caused the riot to collapse amongst itself.

But this riot is not to be the last, as several smaller protests raged on into Friday. The violent surges were due to a series of government infighting and functional collapse of the government as the majority of the Legislative body, allied with the President, struggled for control against the Ministry, allied with the Prime Minister. The high unemployment is due to budget cuts to several key government bodies and, in some cases, the complete dissolution of an entire government branch.

Prime Minister Husan has gained a significant public following, not only for defacing his brother, President Kruso but has said that "The government body [Legislature] has openly attempted to assert their rule of the state, a step backward from our predecessors who fought tooth and nail to save us from poverty and feudalism. If we want a free Yuguistan, we take the fight to him and root out the evil of our state."

With tensions rising in the capital and the effective collapse of the government, crime has peaked, and paramilitary organizations who have defected from Kruso's government have set up shop in neighboring cities. Both sides claim to want peace but have thus far not taken any real steps to accomplish it.
