Excellent book I’ve been reading: Johann Gerhard’s Sacred Meditations. The book stands as a testimony against the new fundamentalist biblicalism that American Lutheranism sadly invited in to fight the liberals, and also as a testimony against all that is lost when Churches reduce the sacraments to mere memorials and statements.
