Of all the Akkano, there is one who never reached the sanctuary that is ascension. It bears no name other than its old title of "The Hand of Extinction" which has clouded their mind with memories of the countless worlds destroyed by it's command. Being a living thing with the burden of leading the extinction of billions is no easy task and it's a task no Akkano wishes to uphold, it is even too cruel to place this punishment on criminals or automata. The scriptures of Mithuar stand united with technology but even for a zealous religious order of technopuristic cynical hedons it's too much, a weapon made to destroy entire star clusters in a single blast should not exist but with the inhabitants of the galaxy forming a unified front against them, such precautions were needed.
A criminal who had led brutal campaigns against "the lesser" were chosen to carry the burden, if it decided to exterminate those who sought to evolve and prosper, they shall carry the burden fully no matter what objection is presented. A truly cruel punishment which despite all this still stands yet the weapon used to carry out this order no longer functions.

Some confusion and excitement in government today as experts report unusual readings in the (galacticly speaking) nearby star systems.
While some are hesitant, High King Galathran has authorized increased spending and given a stern mandate to his expeditionary forces to begin in depth analysis and planning potential probe exploration in hopes of finding life or suitable planets for colonization.
Speaking on the matter, the head of the Sidonian Society for Discovery, Leef Kargan, had this to say:
"While these odd readings are potentially the result of stellar phenomena we're not yet familiar with, I support the crowns choice to beginning planning for any eventuality. Perhaps we find life, perhaps we don't. The reality is, that if we're alone out here we need to know why, and if we aren't, we need to know if they're a threat. Knowledge will only ever further our aims."
The exact nature of this exploration program isn't yet publicly know, but it's expected that details will be revealed within the week.

Pirates in the Void? More likely than you think!
Deep within the Umbra Nebulae a tripple star system appears to house life despite the inhabitable conditions the planets are in. The radiation of this star system is too extreme, the three stars frequently cause magnetic waves that would normally disrupt such ecosystems too harshly for life to take root. However with technology, advanced space stations were built to resist the system's frequent assaults, and originally these stations were meant for the study of this phenomena.. however something changed after a few decades.
Communication outside of the system was difficult, something a corrupt scientist knew well, as well as with the obscure nature of this station, a plan was hatched out to turn this place into a crime den.
Pirate scum from all over the galaxy were hired for a simple hit in the Umbra Nebulae on the Tri-Star system, the hit was carried out in full which resulted in the eradication of all security personnel, leading to the capture of the scientists and the stations. And using the scientists they constructed even more stations used as habitats and shelter for the scum of the galaxy.
As time went on, more and more amoral people flocked to this system, opening black markets and other less-than-lawful cervices. In the underworld, the word "Umbral Stars" typically referred to the Tri-Star system in the Umbra Nebulae, a place where many lawful individuals often vanish due to the obscuring nature of this space cloud. The Umbral Stars has an eerie reputation to it because of this.

Venturing Into Other Star Systems
The Directorate (government) announced today that the science vessel ISS Venturer had entered the Orvatkh system located northeast of of to explore the system and conduct scans on the celestial objects in the system. According to the Directorate, the Venturer had already finished scanning the gas giant of Velkria located in the far outer reaches of the system, and its major moons of Telkraia and Dakryia. More information will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

Head Scientist Jaffabi was tired from months of lack of discoveries or clues regarding the search for xenos. He was ready to call off the operation when he heard a voice from the intercom. "Sir, we've just detected unusual movements in three systems near us. Get here quickly!". The Head Scientist then rushed to the command room, where a scientist named Alkhar greeted him. "Greetings, sir. I believe you're here due to the recent discovery. I'll brief you now. We have detected unusual movements in three systems, and most of them were detected in the system of Korvanth. It is possible they may be from artificial objects such as ships. If so, we may make a large breakthrough in our search." Jaffabi then responded "Hmm.. Korvanth. Class K Star. We detected a few planets orbiting the star years ago. One of them were in the star's habitable zone. It's possible there's life on that planet. I was going to call off the operation, but now we've finally made a breakthrough. Order the scientists to focus on the three systems, especially Korvanth." "Understood, sir." Alkhar responded.

Yesterday, the SET Directorate announced that it had detected unusual movements in three star systems near ours. The Directorate announced that it has also sent a second wave of signals, with a slightly larger range. So far, more focus has been put on the system of Korvanth so far as more movements were detected in the systems. As the star in the system is a Class K, it is possible the system may harbour life just like us. More information will be brought to you in the upcoming weeks.

Yet Another New System!
The government announced today that the ISS Venturer had finished its scans of the Orvatkh system and that the construction ship Hardhat will be deployed to the system to begin construction on a "small space outpost", just like the one in Fatis but smaller than the starbase orbiting our home star. Several manned ships will also be sent to the system to bring the crew of the brand new space outpost once construction is completed.
