The Kingdom of Aecera is a massive, efficient nation, notable for its rum-swilling pirates, disturbing lack of elderly people, and frequent executions. The hard-nosed, hard-working, devout population of 2.235 billion Aecerans have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The relatively small, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Alphus. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 24.5%.
The frighteningly efficient Aeceran economy, worth 312 trillion AECS a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Tourism. Black market activity is notable. Average income is an impressive 139,605 AECS, with the richest citizens earning 5.6 times as much as the poorest.
Aeceran athletes are close to breaking the 2 minute mile and the 16 meter long jump, sports club owners are having a moneyball, the military is researching proton packs and PK-meters to combat "unseen enemy forces", and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Aecera's national animal is the Fire Dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is Kronotism.
Aecera is ranked 24,391st in the world and 456th in the Pacific for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 250.21 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
