The Holy Light of Kaidan is a colossal, genial nation, ruled by Kai with a fair hand, and notable for its free-roaming dinosaurs, national health service, and restrictive gun laws. The compassionate, democratic population of 4.221 billion Kaidanians love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kyon. The average income tax rate is 91.4%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Kaidanian economy, worth 671 trillion marks a year, is led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism and Book Publishing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 159,053 marks, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Beatboxing has replaced the 'Wilhelm scream' as the nation's most popular sound effect, airplane passengers have been known to stuff pillows in their jackets to get extra arm room, protests are legal but strictly supervised, and retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kaidan's national animal is the dove, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Kaidanism.

Kaidan is ranked 325,435^th in the world and 548^th in Starlight for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -13.68 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
