The Republic of Senshu is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Sun Yat-sen with a fair hand, and notable for its national health service, prohibition of alcohol, and restrictive gun laws. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful, devout population of 28.829 billion Senshuans are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.
The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, liberal, outspoken morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Environment, and Welfare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Chin-kang. The income tax rate is 100%.
The enormous but inefficient Senshuan economy, worth a remarkable 5,204 trillion circles a year, is extremely specialized and mostly made up of the Book Publishing industry. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is an impressive 180,546 circles, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Cutting remarks are the limit of Sun Yat-sen's violent tendencies, the government is ignoring the latest terrorist atrocities in Chin-kang for fear of causing a fuss, traffic cops spend most of their work-hours calculating citizens' monthly income, and in coastal waters there are fifteen salvage divers per dead man's chest (yo ho ho). Crime is totally unknown. Senshu's national animal is the bat, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.
Senshu is ranked 323rd in the world and 2nd in Gay for Lowest Crime Rates, with 219.86 law-abiding acts per hour.
