The Democratic States of Developing World is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by President Lancaster with a fair hand, and remarkable for its ban on automobiles, rampant corporate plagiarism, and punitive income tax rates. The compassionate, democratic, devout population of 9.771 billion Developing Worldians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The City of the Brightest. The average income tax rate is 86.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Developing Worldian economy, worth a remarkable 1,145 trillion Euros a year, is quite specialized and mostly made up of the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Book Publishing and Tourism. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 117,251 Euros, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The standardised national curriculum requires that all-male classes be taught why they have periods, jabbing a baby's bottle at officials gets parents waved straight through immigration, residents of houses built on a foundation of wishful thinking are prone to an odd sinking feeling, and modelling agencies send their clients to work in nursing homes. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Developing World's national animal is the Grey Wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Developing World is ranked 17,404th in the world and 400th in The East Pacific for Lowest Crime Rates, with 91.91 law-abiding acts per hour.
