The Republic of Naykon is a large, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its compulsory military service, irreverence towards religion, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic population of 86 million Naykonians love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Welfare. The average income tax rate is 44.5%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but inefficient Naykonian economy, worth 3.45 trillion haida-lese a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Book Publishing industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 40,075 haida-lese, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Pollution is on the rise along with government approvals of fracking projects, nursing mothers are often arrested for indecent exposure, citizens may cast their vote over the internet or phone, and the economy's basis is "from each according to his abilities and to each according to their accountants". Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Naykon's national animal is the beaver, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Naykon is ranked 110,620th in the world and 3,130th in The North Pacific for Most Cultured, scoring 66 on the Snufflebottom-Wiggendum Pentatonic Scale.
