The Democratic Republic of Enou is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by Will Johnson with an even hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants, public floggings, and ubiquitous missile silos. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 11.039 billion Enouans have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Administration, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rosrce. The average income tax rate is 89.4%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Enouan economy, worth a remarkable 1,803 trillion books a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient black market in Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, Tourism, and Book Publishing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 163,363 books, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Weekly religious services often resemble campaign rallies, the "temporary replacement bus service" is now a permanent fixture, war vets look after war animals, and scientists spend more time enduring government inspections than they do on actual science. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Enou's national animal is the emu, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Johnsonism.

Enou is ranked 14,023rd in the world and 334th in The East Pacific for Lowest Crime Rates, with 95.28 law-abiding acts per hour.
